The masters! that which is righteous and equal to the servants give ye, having known that ye also have a Master in the heavens.

2 Fortsett i bønnen, vær våken i den med takksigelse.

In the prayer continue ye, watching in it in thanksgiving;

3 Be samtidig også for oss, at Gud må åpne en dør for ordet, slik at vi kan forkynne Kristi hemmelighet, for dens skyld er jeg også bundet.

praying at the same time also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to speak the secret of the Christ, because of which also I have been bound,

4 at jeg kan gjøre den kjent, slik som jeg bør tale.

that I may manifest it, as it behoveth me to speak;

5 Vandre klokt overfor dem utenfor, utnytt tiden godt.

in wisdom walk ye toward those without, the time forestalling;

6 Sørg for at ordet deres alltid er fylt med visdom og blir tilsatt salt, så dere vet hvordan dere bør svare enhver.

your word always in grace -- with salt being seasoned -- to know how it behoveth you to answer each one.

7 Alt om meg vil Tychikus, den elskede broren og trofaste tjeneren og medtjeneren i Herren, gjøre kjent for dere.

All the things concerning me make known to you shall Tychicus -- the beloved brother, and faithful ministrant, and fellow-servant in the Lord --

8 Jeg har sendt ham til dere nettopp for dette, at han skal kjenne til deres saker og trøste deres hjerter.

whom I did send unto you for this very thing, that he might know the things concerning you, and might comfort your hearts,

9 sammen med Onesimus, den trofaste og elskede broren, som er en av dere; alle ting her vil de fortelle dere.

with Onesimus the faithful and beloved brother, who is of you; all things to you shall they make known that `are' here.

10 Aristarkus, min medfange, hilser dere, og Markus, Barnabas' nevø, som dere har fått beskjed om - hvis han kommer til dere, ta imot ham.

for I do testify to him, that he hath much zeal for you, and those in Laodicea, and those in Hierapolis.

14 Lukas, den elskede legen, og Demas hilser dere.

Salute you doth Lukas, the beloved physician, and Demas;

15 Hils brødrene i Laodikea, og Nymfas, og menigheten som samles i hans hus.

16 Og når brevet er lest hos dere, sørg for at det også blir lest i menigheten i Laodikea, og at dere leser brevet fra Laodikea.

and when the epistle may be read with you, cause that also in the assembly of the Laodiceans it may be read, and the `epistle' from Laodicea that ye also may read;

17 Si til Arkippus: Se til at du fullfører tjenesten du har mottatt i Herren.

and say to Archippus, `See to the ministration that thou didst receive in the Lord, that thou mayest fulfil it.'

18 Hilsenen med min hånd, Paulus; husk mine lenker; nåden er med dere. Amen.
