1 Og Herren sa til Moses: «Tal til prestene, Arons sønner, og si til dem: Ingen prest skal gjøre seg uren for noen av sitt folk,

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Speak unto the priests, sons of Aaron, and thou hast said unto them, For `any' person `a priest' is not defiled among his people,

2 unntatt for sin nærmeste slektning – for sin mor, sin far, sin sønn, sin datter og sin bror.

except for his relation who `is' near unto him -- for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother.

3 Og for sin søster, den jomfru som står ham nær, og som ikke har tilhørt noen mann; for henne kan han bli uren.

and for his sister, the virgin, who is near unto him, who hath not been to a man; for her he is defiled.

4 En lederprest skal ikke gjøre seg uren blant sitt folk, slik at han vanhelliger seg selv.

`A master `priest' doth not defile himself among his people -- to pollute himself;

5 De skal ikke barbere seg skallet på hodet eller skjære kanten av skjegget, og de skal ikke lage snitt i kroppen.

they do not make baldness on their head, and the corner of their beard they do not shave, and in their flesh they do not make a cutting;

6 De skal være hellige for sin Gud, og de skal ikke vanhellige navnet til sin Gud, for de bærer frem Herrens ildoffer, sin Guds brød, og skal være hellige.

they are holy to their God, and they pollute not the name of their God, for the fire-offerings of Jehovah, bread of their God, they are bringing near, and have been holy.

7 En kvinne som er en skjøge eller er uren, skal de ikke ta, og heller ikke en kvinne som er forstøtt av mannen sin, for han er hellig for sin Gud.

`A woman, a harlot, or polluted, they do not take, and a woman cast out from her husband they do not take, for he `is' holy to his God;

8 Du skal hellige ham, for han bringer frem din Guds brød; han er hellig for deg, for hellig er jeg, Herren, som helliger dere.

and thou hast sanctified him, for the bread of thy God he is bringing near; he is holy to thee; for holy `am' I, Jehovah, sanctifying you.

9 Og en datter av en hvilken som helst prest som vanhelliger seg ved å drive hor, vanhelliger sin far; hun skal brennes med ild.

`And a daughter of any priest when she polluteth herself by going a-whoring -- her father she is polluting; with fire she is burnt.

10 Den øverstepresten blant sine brødre, på hvis hode salvingsoljen er blitt utøst, og som er innvidd til å bære prestens klær, skal ikke avdekke sitt hode eller rive sine klær.

`And the high priest of his brethren, on whose head is poured the anointing oil, and hath consecrated his hand to put on the garments, his head doth not uncover, nor rend his garments,

11 Han skal ikke komme nær noen død person; ikke engang for sin far eller sin mor skal han gjøre seg uren.

nor beside any dead person doth he come; for his father and for his mother he doth not defile himself;

12 Han skal ikke forlate helligdommen eller vanhellige sin Guds helligdom, for Guds salvingsolje er over ham; jeg er Herren.

nor from the sanctuary doth he go out, nor doth he pollute the sanctuary of his God, for the separation of the anointing oil of his God `is' on him; I `am' Jehovah.

13 Han skal ta en hustru i hennes jomfruelighet.

`And he taketh a wife in her virginity;

14 En enke, en forstøtt, eller en uren kvinne – en skjøge – kan han ikke ta; men en jomfru fra sitt eget folk kan han ta til ekte.

widow, or cast out, or polluted one -- a harlot -- these he doth not take, but a virgin of his own people he doth take `for' a wife,

15 Han skal ikke vanhellige sin ætt blant sitt folk; for jeg er Herren, som helliger ham.»

and he doth not pollute his seed among his people; for I `am' Jehovah, sanctifying him.'

16 Og Herren talte til Moses og sa:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

17 «Tal til Aron og si: Ingen av din slekt i deres generasjoner, som har en lyte, skal komme nær for å ofre sin Guds brød til Herren.

`Speak unto Aaron, saying, No man of thy seed to their generations in whom there is blemish doth draw near to bring near the bread of his God,

18 For ingen med en lyte skal komme nær – en blind mann, en lam, en med vansiret ansikt eller vanvokst lem,

for no man in whom `is' blemish doth draw near -- a man blind, or lame or dwarfed, or enlarged,

19 eller en mann med brudd i foten eller hånden,

or a man in whom there is a breach in the foot, or a breach in the hand,

20 eller en med pukkelrygg, en dverg, en med flekker i øyet, eller skabb, eksem, eller med testikler som er knust.

or hump-backed, or a dwarf, or with a mixture in his eye, or a scurvy person, or scabbed, or broken-testicled.

21 Ingen mann med en lyte fra Arons presteslekt skal komme nær for å bære frem Herrens ildoffer; han har en lyte; han skal ikke komme nær for å ofre sin Guds brød.

`No man in whom is blemish (of the seed of Aaron the priest) doth come nigh to bring near the fire-offerings of Jehovah; blemish `is' in him; the bread of his God he doth not come nigh to bring near.

22 Guds brød – av de helligste ting, og av de hellige ting – kan han spise.

`Bread of his God -- of the most holy things, and of the holy things -- he doth eat;

23 Men til forhenget skal han ikke gå, og til alteret skal han ikke komme nær, for han har en lyte; han skal ikke vanhellige mine helligdommer, for jeg er Herren, som helliger dem.»

only, unto the vail he doth not enter, and unto the altar he doth not draw nigh; for blemish `is' in him; and he doth not pollute My sanctuaries; for I `am' Jehovah, sanctifying them.'

24 Og Moses talte til Aron og hans sønner, og til hele Israels folk.

And Moses speaketh unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the sons of Israel.
