21Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
32For [he is] not a man, as I [am, that] I should answer him, [and] we should come together in judgment.
2What ye know, [the same] do I know also: I [am] not inferior unto you.
3Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.
19He hath cast me into the mire, and I am become like dust and ashes.
3Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
4And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make [it].
5Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
6O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay [is] in the potter's hand, so [are] ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
5¶ To whom will ye liken me, and make [me] equal, and compare me, that we may be like?
14It is turned as clay [to] the seal; and they stand as a garment.
16Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?
8But now, O LORD, thou [art] our father; we [are] the clay, and thou our potter; and we all [are] the work of thy hand.
9Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! [Let] the potsherd [strive] with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?
12Behold, [in] this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.
4Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
5I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.
6Wherefore I abhor [myself], and repent in dust and ashes.

17Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?
8Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
9Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
14What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?
15Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?
27And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which [am but] dust and ashes:
12Your remembrances [are] like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.
15My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, [and] curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
21And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I [shall] not [be].
3And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?

4¶ Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

6Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity.
