Now these are the words{H1697} of the letter{H5612} that Jeremiah{H3414} the prophet{H5030} sent{H7971}{(H8804)} from Jerusalem{H3389} unto the residue{H3499} of the elders{H2205} which were carried away captives{H1473}, and to the priests{H3548}, and to the prophets{H5030}, and to all the people{H5971} whom Nebuchadnezzar{H5019} had carried away captive{H1540}{(H8689)} from Jerusalem{H3389} to Babylon{H894};

And I said{H559}{(H8799)}, Figs{H8384}; the good{H2896} figs{H8384}, very{H3966} good{H2896}; and the evil{H7451}, very{H3966} evil{H7451}, that cannot be eaten{H398}{(H8735)}, they are so evil{H7455}. 4 Again the word{H1697} of the LORD{H3068} came unto me, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, 5 Thus saith{H559}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068}, the God{H430} of Israel{H3478}; Like these good{H2896} figs{H8384}, so will I acknowledge{H5234}{(H8686)} them that are carried away captive{H1546} of Judah{H3063}, whom I have sent{H7971}{(H8765)} out of this place{H4725} into the land{H776} of the Chaldeans{H3778} for their good{H2896}. 6 For I will set{H7760}{(H8804)} mine eyes{H5869} upon them for good{H2896}, and I will bring them again{H7725}{(H8689)} to this land{H776}: and I will build{H1129}{(H8804)} them, and not pull them down{H2040}{(H8799)}; and I will plant{H5193}{(H8804)} them, and not pluck them up{H5428}{(H8799)}. 7 And I will give{H5414}{(H8804)} them an heart{H3820} to know{H3045}{(H8800)} me, that I am the LORD{H3068}: and they shall be my people{H5971}, and I will be their God{H430}: for they shall return{H7725}{(H8799)} unto me with their whole heart{H3820}.
