Verse 1

The word{H1697} that came to Jeremiah{H3414} from the LORD{H3068}, saying{H559}{(H8800)},

Verse 2

Thus speaketh{H559}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068} God{H430} of Israel{H3478}, saying{H559}{(H8800)}, Write{H3789}{(H8798)} thee all the words{H1697} that I have spoken{H1696}{(H8765)} unto thee in a book{H5612}.

Verse 3

For, lo, the days{H3117} come{H935}{(H8802)}, saith{H5002}{(H8803)} the LORD{H3068}, that I will bring again{H7725}{(H8804)} the captivity{H7622} of my people{H5971} Israel{H3478} and Judah{H3063}, saith{H559}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068}: and I will cause them to return{H7725}{(H8689)} to the land{H776} that I gave{H5414}{(H8804)} to their fathers{H1}, and they shall possess{H3423}{(H8804)} it.

Verse 4

And these are the words{H1697} that the LORD{H3068} spake{H1696}{(H8765)} concerning Israel{H3478} and concerning Judah{H3063}.

Verse 5

For thus saith{H559}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068}; We have heard{H8085}{(H8804)} a voice{H6963} of trembling{H2731}, of fear{H6343}, and not of peace{H7965}.

Verse 6

Ask{H7592}{(H8798)} ye now, and see{H7200}{(H8798)} whether a man{H2145} doth travail with child{H3205}{(H8802)}? wherefore do I see{H7200}{(H8804)} every man{H1397} with his hands{H3027} on his loins{H2504}, as a woman in travail{H3205}{(H8802)}, and all faces{H6440} are turned{H2015}{(H8738)} into paleness{H3420}?

Verse 7

Alas{H1945}! for that day{H3117} is great{H1419}, so that{H369} none is like it: it is even the time{H6256} of Jacob's{H3290} trouble{H6869}; but he shall be saved{H3467}{(H8735)} out of it.

Verse 8

For it shall come to pass in that day{H3117}, saith{H5002}{(H8803)} the LORD{H3068} of hosts{H6635}, that I will break{H7665}{(H8799)} his yoke{H5923} from off thy neck{H6677}, and will burst{H5423}{(H8762)} thy bonds{H4147}, and strangers{H2114}{(H8801)} shall no more serve{H5647}{(H8799)} themselves of him:

Verse 9

But they shall serve{H5647}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068} their God{H430}, and David{H1732} their king{H4428}, whom I will raise up{H6965}{(H8686)} unto them.

Verse 10

Therefore fear{H3372}{(H8799)} thou not, O my servant{H5650} Jacob{H3290}, saith{H5002}{(H8803)} the LORD{H3068}; neither be dismayed{H2865}{(H8735)}, O Israel{H3478}: for, lo, I will save{H3467}{(H8688)} thee from afar{H7350}, and thy seed{H2233} from the land{H776} of their captivity{H7628}; and Jacob{H3290} shall return{H7725}{(H8804)}, and shall be in rest{H8252}{(H8804)}, and be quiet{H7599}{(H8768)}, and none shall make him afraid{H2729}{(H8688)}.

Verse 11

For I am with thee, saith{H5002}{(H8803)} the LORD{H3068}, to save{H3467}{(H8687)} thee: though I make{H6213}{(H8799)} a full end{H3617} of all nations{H1471} whither I have scattered{H6327}{(H8689)} thee, yet will I not make{H6213}{(H8799)} a full end{H3617} of thee: but I will correct{H3256}{(H8765)} thee in measure{H4941}, and will not leave thee altogether{H5352}{(H8763)} unpunished{H5352}{(H8762)}.

Verse 12

For thus saith{H559}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068}, Thy bruise{H7667} is incurable{H605}{(H8803)}, and thy wound{H4347} is grievous{H2470}{(H8737)}.

Verse 13

There is none to plead{H1777}{(H8802)} thy cause{H1779}, that thou mayest be bound up{H4205}: thou hast no healing{H8585} medicines{H7499}.

Verse 14

All thy lovers{H157}{(H8764)} have forgotten{H7911}{(H8804)} thee; they seek{H1875}{(H8799)} thee not; for I have wounded{H5221}{(H8689)} thee with the wound{H4347} of an enemy{H341}{(H8802)}, with the chastisement{H4148} of a cruel one{H394}, for the multitude{H7230} of thine iniquity{H5771}; because thy sins{H2403} were increased{H6105}{(H8804)}.

Verse 15

Why criest{H2199}{(H8799)} thou for thine affliction{H7667}? thy sorrow{H4341} is incurable{H605}{(H8803)} for the multitude{H7230} of thine iniquity{H5771}: because thy sins{H2403} were increased{H6105}{(H8804)}, I have done{H6213}{(H8804)} these things unto thee.

Verse 16

Therefore all they that devour{H398}{(H8802)} thee shall be devoured{H398}{(H8735)}; and all thine adversaries{H6862}, every one of them, shall go{H3212}{(H8799)} into captivity{H7628}; and they that spoil{H7601}{(H8802)}{(H8675)}{H8154}{(H8802)} thee shall be a spoil{H4933}, and all that prey{H962}{(H8802)} upon thee will I give{H5414}{(H8799)} for a prey{H957}.

Verse 17

For I will restore{H5927}{(H8686)} health{H724} unto thee, and I will heal{H7495}{(H8799)} thee of thy wounds{H4347}, saith{H5002}{(H8803)} the LORD{H3068}; because they called{H7121}{(H8804)} thee an Outcast{H5080}{(H8737)}, saying, This is Zion{H6726}, whom no man seeketh after{H1875}{(H8802)}.

Verse 18

Thus saith{H559}{(H8804)} the LORD{H3068}; Behold, I will bring again{H7725}{(H8802)} the captivity{H7622} of Jacob's{H3290} tents{H168}, and have mercy{H7355}{(H8762)} on his dwellingplaces{H4908}; and the city{H5892} shall be builded{H1129}{(H8738)} upon her own heap{H8510}, and the palace{H759} shall remain{H3427}{(H8799)} after the manner{H4941} thereof.

Verse 19

And out of them shall proceed{H3318}{(H8804)} thanksgiving{H8426} and the voice{H6963} of them that make merry{H7832}{(H8764)}: and I will multiply{H7235}{(H8689)} them, and they shall not be few{H4591}{(H8799)}; I will also glorify{H3513}{(H8689)} them, and they shall not be small{H6819}{(H8799)}.

Verse 20

Their children{H1121} also shall be as aforetime{H6924}, and their congregation{H5712} shall be established{H3559}{(H8735)} before{H6440} me, and I will punish{H6485}{(H8804)} all that oppress{H3905}{(H8801)} them.

Verse 21

And their nobles{H117} shall be of themselves, and their governor{H4910}{(H8802)} shall proceed{H3318}{(H8799)} from the midst{H7130} of them; and I will cause him to draw near{H7126}{(H8689)}, and he shall approach{H5066}{(H8738)} unto me: for who is this that engaged{H6148}{(H8804)} his heart{H3820} to approach{H5066}{(H8800)} unto me? saith{H5002}{(H8803)} the LORD{H3068}.

Verse 22

And ye shall be my people{H5971}, and I will be your God{H430}.

Verse 23

Behold, the whirlwind{H5591} of the LORD{H3068} goeth forth{H3318}{(H8804)} with fury{H2534}, a continuing{H1641}{(H8706)} whirlwind{H5591}: it shall fall with pain{H2342}{(H8799)} upon the head{H7218} of the wicked{H7563}.

Verse 24

The fierce{H2740} anger{H639} of the LORD{H3068} shall not return{H7725}{(H8799)}, until he have done{H6213}{(H8800)} it, and until he have performed{H6965}{(H8687)} the intents{H4209} of his heart{H3820}: in the latter{H319} days{H3117} ye shall consider{H995}{(H8709)} it.
