1

A Psalm of Asaph. O God, the heathen are come{H8804)} into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled{H8765)}; they have laid{H8804)} Jerusalem on heaps.

2

The dead bodies of thy servants have they given{H8804)} to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

3

Their blood have they shed{H8804)} like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury{H8802)} them.

4

We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

5

How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry{H8799)} for ever? shall thy jealousy burn{H8799)} like fire?

6

Pour out{H8798)} thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known{H8804)} thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called{H8804)} upon thy name.

7

For they have devoured{H8804)} Jacob, and laid waste{H8689)} his dwelling place.

8

O remember{H8799)} not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent{H8762)} us: for we are brought very low{H8804)}.

9

Help{H8798)} us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver{H8685)} us, and purge away{H8761)} our sins, for thy name's sake.

10

Wherefore should the heathen say{H8799)}, Where is their God? let him be known{H8735)} among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed{H8803)}.

11

Let the sighing of the prisoner come{H8799)} before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve{H8685)} thou those that are appointed to die;

12

And render{H8685)} unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached{H8765)} thee, O Lord.

13

So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks{H8686)} for ever: we will shew forth{H8762)} thy praise to all generations.
