Then said David, You shall not do so, my brethren, with what the LORD has given us, who has preserved us, and delivered the company that came against us into our hand.

13And David said to his men, Each of you gird on his sword. And each one girded on his sword, and David also girded on his sword; and about four hundred men went up after David, while two hundred stayed with the supplies.

7So David restrained his servants with these words and did not allow them to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave and went on his way.

15But also you shall not cut off your kindness from my house forever: no, not when the LORD has cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.
26David spoke to the men standing by him, asking, What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?
17But Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, came to his aid and struck the Philistine and killed him. Then David's men swore to him, saying, You shall no more go out with us to battle, lest you quench the lamp of Israel.
29That you will do us no harm, as we have not touched you, and as we have done to you nothing but good, and have sent you away in peace: you are now the blessed of the LORD.
8And David said to Ahimelech, Is there not here on hand a spear or sword? For I have not brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste.
9And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you struck down in the Valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if you will take that, take it, for there is no other but that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it to me.
15But the men were very good to us, and we were not harmed, nor did we miss anything, as long as we were associating with them, when we were in the fields.
16And the three mighty men broke through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink it, but poured it out to the LORD.
17And he said, Far be it from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is this not the blood of the men who risked their lives? Therefore he would not drink it. These things the three mighty men did.
