Verse 1

When the queen of Sheba heard of Solomon's fame, she came to test Solomon with difficult questions at Jerusalem, with a very large entourage, camels carrying spices, a great quantity of gold, and precious stones. When she came to Solomon, she spoke with him about everything in her heart.

And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that bare spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

Verse 2

And Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was hidden from Solomon that he did not explain to her.

And Solomon told her all her questions: and there was nothing hid from Solomon which he told her not.

Verse 3

When the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon and the house he had built,

And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,

Verse 4

the food on his table, the seating of his servants, the service of his ministers and their apparel, his cupbearers in their apparel, and his entryway by which he went up to the house of the LORD, there was no more spirit in her.

And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel; his cupbearers also, and their apparel; and his ascent by which he went up into the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her.

Verse 5

She said to the king, "The report I heard in my own land about your deeds and your wisdom was true.

And she said to the king, It was a true report which I heard in mine own land of thine acts, and of thy wisdom:

Verse 6

But I did not believe their words until I came and saw it with my own eyes, and indeed, not even half of the greatness of your wisdom was told to me; you exceed the report I heard.

Howbeit I believed not their words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the one half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: for thou exceedest the fame that I heard.

Verse 7

Happy are your men, and happy are these your servants who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom."

Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.

Verse 8

Blessed be the LORD your God, who delighted in you to set you on His throne as king for the LORD your God! Because your God loved Israel to establish them forever, He made you king over them to execute justice and righteousness.

Blessed be the LORD thy God, which delighted in thee to set thee on his throne, to be king for the LORD thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do judgment and justice.

Verse 9

She gave the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold, a great abundance of spices, and precious stones; never again were there such spices as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices great abundance, and precious stones: neither was there any such spice as the queen of Sheba gave king Solomon.

Verse 10

The servants of Huram and the servants of Solomon who brought gold from Ophir also brought algum wood and precious stones.

And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, which brought gold from Ophir, brought algum trees and precious stones.

Verse 11

The king made from the algum wood terraces for the house of the LORD and for the king's palace, and harps and lyres for singers; such things had never been seen before in the land of Judah.

And the king made of the algum trees terraces to the house of the LORD, and to the king's palace, and harps and psalteries for singers: and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah.

Verse 12

King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba all she desired, whatever she asked, besides what she had brought to the king. So she turned and went back to her own land, she and her servants.

And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which she had brought unto the king. So she turned, and went away to her own land, she and her servants.

Verse 13

The weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred sixty-six talents of gold,

Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold;

Verse 14

besides what the traders and merchants brought. All the kings of Arabia and the governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.

Beside that which chapmen and merchants brought. And all the kings of Arabia and governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.

Verse 15

King Solomon made two hundred large shields of beaten gold; six hundred shekels of beaten gold went into each shield.

And king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold: six hundred shekels of beaten gold went to one target.

Verse 16

He made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three hundred shekels of gold went into each shield. The king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

And three hundred shields made he of beaten gold: three hundred shekels of gold went to one shield. And the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

Verse 17

The king made a great throne of ivory and overlaid it with pure gold.

Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.

Verse 18

The throne had six steps and a footstool of gold, which were attached to the throne, with armrests on each side of the seat, and two lions standing beside the armrests.

And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on each side of the sitting place, and two lions standing by the stays:

Verse 19

Twelve lions stood there, one on each side of the six steps. Nothing like this had been made in any other kingdom.

And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps. There was not the like made in any kingdom.

Verse 20

All King Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; silver was not regarded as anything in the days of Solomon.

And all the drinking vessels of king Solomon were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: none were of silver; it was not any thing accounted of in the days of Solomon.

Verse 21

For the king's ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram, and every three years the ships of Tarshish brought gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.

Verse 22

King Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.

All the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, that God had put in his heart.

Verse 24

Every one of them brought his gift: articles of silver and gold, garments, armor, spices, horses, and mules, so much year by year.

And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and raiment, harness, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.

Verse 25

Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he stationed in the chariot cities and with the king at Jerusalem.

Verse 26

He reigned over all the kings from the River to the land of the Philistines and to the border of Egypt.

Verse 27

The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars as abundant as sycamores in the low country.

And the king made silver in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the low plains in abundance.

Verse 28

They imported horses for Solomon from Egypt and from all lands.

And they brought unto Solomon horses out of Egypt, and out of all lands.

Verse 29

Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, from beginning to end, are they not written in the book of Nathan the prophet, in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat?

Verse 30

Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel for forty years.

Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father, and Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.
