Verse 1

And on the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

And both Jesus and his disciples were invited to the wedding.

And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to him, They have no wine.

And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

Verse 4

Jesus said to her, Woman, what does your concern have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

Verse 5

His mother said to the servants, Whatever he tells you, do it.

His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

Verse 6

Now there were set there six stone waterpots, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons each.

And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

Verse 7

Jesus said to them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

Verse 8

And he said to them, Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the banquet. And they took it.

And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

Verse 9

When the master of the banquet had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the banquet called the bridegroom,

When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

Verse 10

And said to him, Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have drunk freely, then the inferior. But you have kept the good wine until now.

And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

Verse 11

This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Verse 12

After this he went down to Capernaum, he, his mother, his brothers, and his disciples: and they stayed there a few days.

Verse 13

And the Jews' Passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

Verse 16

And he said to those who sold doves, Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of merchandise.

And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.

Verse 17

Then his disciples remembered that it was written, Zeal for your house has consumed me.

And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

Verse 18

So the Jews answered and said to him, What sign do you show to us, since you do these things?

Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

Verse 19

Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

Verse 20

Then the Jews said, It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?

Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?

Verse 21

But he was speaking of the temple of his body.

Verse 22

Therefore, when he had risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this to them; and they believed the scripture and the word which Jesus had said.

Verse 23

Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs which he did.

Verse 24

But Jesus did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all men,

And had no need that anyone should testify of man, for he knew what was in man.
