Verse 1

There were present at that time some who told him of the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.

And Jesus answered and said to them, Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered such things?

I tell you, No: but unless you repent, you shall all likewise perish.

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Verse 4

Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think they were worse sinners than all the others who lived in Jerusalem?

Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?

Verse 5

I tell you, No: but unless you repent, you shall all likewise perish.

He also spoke this parable: A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came seeking fruit on it and found none.

Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why does it use up the ground?

Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?

Verse 8

And he answered and said to him, Lord, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it:

And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:

Verse 9

And if it bears fruit, well: and if not, then after that you shall cut it down.

And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.

And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years, and was bent over, and could in no way raise herself up.

And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said to her, Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.

And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, and said to the people, There are six days on which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.

Verse 15

The Lord then answered him, and said, You hypocrite, does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or his donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water?

Verse 16

And should not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound, indeed these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?

And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

Verse 17

And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

Then he said, What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it?

Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?

It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden; and it grew and became a large tree, and the birds of the air lodged in its branches.

And again he said, To what shall I liken the kingdom of God?

It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, until it was all leavened.

When once the master of the house has arisen and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us; and he will answer and say to you, I do not know you, where you are from:

When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:

Verse 26

Then you will begin to say, We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.

Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.

Verse 27

But he will say, I tell you, I do not know you, where you are from; depart from me, all you workers of iniquity.

But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

Verse 28

There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

Verse 29

And they will come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and sit down in the kingdom of God.

And behold, there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last.

Verse 31

The same day some of the Pharisees came, saying to him, Get out and depart from here, for Herod will kill you.

The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee.

Verse 32

And he said to them, Go, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.

And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.

Verse 33

Nevertheless I must keep going today, tomorrow, and the day following, for it cannot be that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem.

Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

Verse 34

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets, and stone those who are sent to you; how often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!

Verse 35

Behold, your house is left to you desolate; and assuredly I say to you, You shall not see me until the time comes when you say, Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
