Verse 1

Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread was approaching, which is called the Passover.

And you shall say to the owner of the house, The Master says to you, Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?

And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?

Verse 12

And he shall show you a large furnished upper room: make preparations there.

And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.

Verse 13

And they went, and found as he had said to them: and they prepared the Passover.

And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

Verse 14

And when the hour came, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.

And he said to them, With great desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer:

For I say to you, I will not eat of it again, until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and share it among yourselves:

For I say to you, I will not drink from the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God comes.

And he took bread, and gave thanks, and broke it, and gave to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me.

Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.

And truly the Son of Man goes as it has been determined: but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!

Verse 23

And they began to question among themselves, which of them it might be that would do this thing.

And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

And there was also a strife among them, as to which of them should be regarded as the greatest.

Verse 25

And he said to them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and those who exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.

But you shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that serves.

For which is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? But I am among you as he who serves.

For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

Verse 28

You are they which have continued with me in my trials.

Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.

Verse 29

And I appoint to you a kingdom, as my Father has appointed to me;

And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;

Verse 30

That you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

But I have prayed for you, that your faith does not fail: and when you have returned, strengthen your brethren.

And he said to him, Lord, I am ready to go with you, both to prison and to death.

Verse 34

And he said, I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day, before you will deny three times that you know me.

And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

Verse 35

And he said to them, When I sent you without money bag, and knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything? And they said, Nothing.

And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

Verse 36

Then he said to them, But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise his knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.

Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

Verse 37

For I say to you, that this which is written must still be accomplished in me, And he was numbered with the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.

Verse 38

And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said to them, It is enough.

And when he rose from prayer, and came to his disciples, he found them sleeping from sorrow,

And said to them, Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.

And while he was still speaking, behold, a multitude, and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near to Jesus to kiss him.

But Jesus said to him, Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?

When those around him saw what was going to happen, they said to him, Lord, shall we strike with the sword?

When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?

Verse 50

And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

Verse 51

And Jesus answered and said, Permit even this. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

Verse 52

Then Jesus said to the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, who had come to him, Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs?

Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?

Verse 53

When I was daily with you in the temple, you did not stretch forth any hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

Then they took him, and led him, and brought him to the high priest's house. And Peter followed from a distance.

And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard, and sat down together, Peter sat down among them.

But a certain maid saw him as he sat by the fire, and looked intently at him, and said, This man was also with him.

And he denied him, saying, Woman, I do not know him.

And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.

Verse 58

And after a little while another saw him, and said, You are also one of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.

And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.

Verse 59

And about an hour later, another confidently affirmed, saying, Truly this man was also with him, for he is a Galilean.

And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean.

Verse 60

And Peter said, Man, I do not know what you are saying. And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.

And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.

Verse 61

And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, Before the rooster crows, you shall deny me three times.

Verse 62

And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that struck you?

Hereafter shall the Son of Man sit on the right hand of the power of God.

Then they all said, Are you then the Son of God? And he said to them, You say that I am.

And they said, What need do we have for any further witness? For we ourselves have heard it from his own mouth.
