  • Neh 13:5-9 : 5 and he had prepared for him a large room, where previously they had stored the grain offerings, the frankincense, the vessels, and the tithes of grain, new wine, and oil, which were commanded to be given to the Levites, the singers, and the gatekeepers, as well as the offerings for the priests. 6 But all this time I was not in Jerusalem, for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon, I had come to the king. After some time, I obtained leave from the king, 7 and I came to Jerusalem and discovered the evil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah by preparing a room for him in the courts of the house of God. 8 This upset me very much; so I threw all of Tobiah’s household goods out of the room. 9 Then I gave orders, and they cleansed the rooms; and I brought back into them the vessels of the house of God, along with the grain offerings and the frankincense. 10 I also realized that the portions for the Levites had not been given to them, so the Levites and the singers, who did the work, had each fled to his field. 11 So I contended with the rulers, and said, Why has the house of God been forsaken? And I gathered them together and placed them in their stations. 12 Then all Judah brought the tithe of the grain, the new wine, and the oil to the storehouses. 13 And I appointed as treasurers over the storehouses Shelemiah the priest, Zadok the scribe, and Pedaiah of the Levites; and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah, for they were considered trustworthy, and their task was to distribute to their brethren.

As for the entry of the house, the inner doors for the Most Holy Place and the doors of the main hall of the temple were gold.

He had farmers and vine dressers in the mountains and in Carmel, for he loved the soil. 11 Moreover, Uzziah had an army of fighting men who went out to war by divisions, according to the number listed by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the direction of Hananiah, one of the king's captains.
