8 I gave you your master’s house, and put your master’s wives into your arms. I also gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if all that somehow seems insignificant, I would have given you so much more as well!
17 Now my father David had a strong desire to build a temple to honor the LORD God of Israel.
18 The LORD told my father David,‘It is right for you to have a strong desire to build a temple to honor me.
12 Although you have acted in secret, I will do this thing before all Israel, and in broad daylight.’”
13 Then David exclaimed to Nathan,“I have sinned against the LORD!” Nathan replied to David,“Yes, and the LORD has forgiven your sin. You are not going to die.

24 Nathan said,“My master, O king, did you announce,‘Adonijah will be king after me; he will sit on my throne’?
20 What more can David say to you? You have given your servant special recognition, O Sovereign LORD!
21 For the sake of your promise and according to your purpose you have done this great thing in order to reveal it to your servant.
10 David’s power grew steadily, for the LORD God of Heaven’s Armies was with him.
19 O LORD, for the sake of your servant and according to your will, you have done this great thing in order to reveal your greatness.
37 I will select you; you will rule over all you desire to have and you will be king over Israel.
38 You must obey all I command you to do, follow my instructions, do what I approve, and keep my rules and commandments, like my servant David did. Then I will be with you and establish for you a lasting dynasty, as I did for David; I will give you Israel.
9 The LORD told Gad, David’s prophet,
32 King David said,“Summon Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada.” They came before the king,

11 “Now, my son, may the LORD be with you! May you succeed and build a temple for the LORD your God, just as he announced you would.
14 Now David achieved success in all he did, for the LORD was with him.
23 So now, O LORD, may the promise you made about your servant and his family become a permanent reality! Do as you promised,
25 for you, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build a dynasty for him. That is why your servant has had the courage to pray to you.
19 So David went up as Gad instructed him to do, according to the LORD’s instructions.
20 David said to his son Solomon:“Be strong and brave! Do it! Don’t be afraid and don’t panic! For the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not leave you or abandon you before all the work for the service of the LORD’s temple is finished.
2 King David rose to his feet and said:“Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I wanted to build a temple where the ark of the LORD’s covenant could be placed as a footstool for our God. I have made the preparations for building it.
17 Now, O LORD God of Israel, may the promise you made to your servant David be realized.
7 David said to Solomon:“My son, I really wanted to build a temple to honor the LORD my God.
15 Then Nathan went to his home. The LORD struck the child that Uriah’s wife had borne to David, and the child became very ill.
17 You must serve me as your father David did. Do everything I commanded and obey my rules and regulations.
18 So Samuel told him everything. He did not hold back anything from him. Eli said,“The LORD will do what he pleases.”
24 You have kept your word to your servant, my father David; this very day you have fulfilled what you promised.
