9So Hazael went to visit Elisha. He took along a gift, as well as forty camel loads of all the fine things of Damascus. When he arrived, he stood before him and said,“Your son, King Ben Hadad of Syria, has sent me to you with this question,‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”
12When Ben Hadad received this reply, he and the other kings were drinking in their quarters. He ordered his servants,“Get ready to attack!” So they got ready to attack the city.
13The Lord Delivers Israel Now a prophet visited King Ahab of Israel and said,“This is what the LORD has said,‘Do you see this huge army? Look, I am going to hand it over to you this very day. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’”
14Ahab asked,“By whom will this be accomplished?” He answered,“This is what the LORD has said,‘By the servants of the district governors.’” Ahab asked,“Who will launch the attack?” He answered,“You will.”
23So he threw a big banquet for them and they ate and drank. Then he sent them back to their master. After that no Syrian raiding parties again invaded the land of Israel.
24The Lord Saves Samaria Later King Ben Hadad of Syria assembled his entire army and attacked and besieged Samaria.
15The LORD said to him,“Go back the way you came and then head for the wilderness of Damascus. Go and anoint Hazael king over Syria.
4So I will set Hazael’s house on fire; fire will consume Ben Hadad’s fortresses.
5I will break the bar on the gate of Damascus. I will remove the ruler from Wicked Valley, the one who holds the royal scepter from Beth Eden. The people of Aram will be deported to Kir.” The LORD has spoken!
24When King Hazael of Syria died, his son Ben Hadad replaced him as king.
25Jehoahaz’s son Jehoash took back from Ben Hadad son of Hazael the cities that he had taken from his father Jehoahaz in war. Joash defeated him three times and recovered the Israelite cities.
27“I will set fire to the walls of Damascus; it will burn up the palaces of Ben Hadad.”
7Elisha Meets with Hazael Elisha traveled to Damascus while King Ben Hadad of Syria was sick. The king was told,“The prophet has come here.”
35A Prophet Denounces Ahab’s Actions One of the members of the prophetic guild, told his companion a message from the LORD,“Please wound me!” But the man refused to wound him.
14He left Elisha and went to his master. Ben Hadad asked him,“What did Elisha tell you?” Hazael replied,“He told me you would surely recover.”
2and after several years went down to visit Ahab in Samaria. Ahab slaughtered many sheep and cattle to honor Jehoshaphat and those who came with him. He persuaded him to join in an attack against Ramoth Gilead.
3King Ahab of Israel said to King Jehoshaphat of Judah,“Will you go with me to attack Ramoth Gilead?” He replied,“I will support you; my army is at your disposal and will support you in battle.”

29“Have you noticed how Ahab shows remorse before me? Because he shows remorse before me, I will not bring disaster on his dynasty during his lifetime, but during the reign of his son.”
