    5David said to the young man who was telling him this,“How do you know that Saul and his son Jonathan are dead?”

    6The young man who was telling him this said,“I just happened to be on Mount Gilboa and came across Saul leaning on his spear for support. The chariots and leaders of the horsemen were in hot pursuit of him.

    7When he turned around and saw me, he called out to me. I answered,‘Here I am!’

    8He asked me,‘Who are you?’ I told him,‘I’m an Amalekite.’

    25The men of Israel said,“Have you seen this man who is coming up? He does so to defy Israel. But the king will make the man who can strike him down very wealthy! He will give him his daughter in marriage, and he will make his father’s house exempt from tax obligations in Israel.”

    13Saul said to him,“Why have you conspired against me, you and this son of Jesse? You gave him bread and a sword and inquired of God on his behalf, so that he opposes me and waits in ambush, as is the case today!”

    14Ahimelech replied to the king,“Who among all your servants is faithful like David? He is the king’s son-in-law, the leader of your bodyguard, and honored in your house!
