2So Jonathan told David,“My father Saul is trying to kill you. So be careful tomorrow morning. Find a hiding place and stay in seclusion.
3I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are. I will speak about you to my father. When I find out what the problem is, I will let you know.”

20Now don’t let my blood fall to the ground away from the LORD’s presence, for the king of Israel has gone out to look for a flea the way one looks for a partridge in the hill country.”
8You must be loyal to your servant, for you have made a covenant with your servant in the LORD’s name. If I am guilty, you yourself kill me! Why bother taking me to your father?”
9Jonathan said,“Far be it from you to suggest this! If I were at all aware that my father had decided to harm you, wouldn’t I tell you about it?”
10David said to Jonathan,“Who will tell me if your father answers you harshly?”
11Jonathan said to David,“Come on. Let’s go out to the field.”When the two of them had gone out into the field,
12Jonathan said to David,“The LORD God of Israel is my witness. I will feel out my father about this time the day after tomorrow. If he is favorably inclined toward David, will I not then send word to you and let you know?
13But if my father intends to do you harm, may the LORD do all this and more to Jonathan, if I don’t let you know and send word to you so you can go safely on your way. May the LORD be with you, as he was with my father.
20It seems like you arrived just yesterday. Today should I make you wander around by going with us? I go where I must go. But as for you, go back and take your men with you. May genuine loyal love protect you!”
25But the king said to Absalom,“No, my son. We shouldn’t all go. We shouldn’t burden you in that way.” Though Absalom pressed him, the king was not willing to go. Instead, David blessed him.
26Then Absalom said,“If you will not go, then let my brother Amnon go with us.” The king replied to him,“Why should he go with you?”
1Then one day Jonathan son of Saul said to his armor bearer,“Come on, let’s go over to the Philistine garrison that is opposite us.” But he did not let his father know.
56But he said to them,“Don’t detain me– the LORD has granted me success on my journey. Let me leave now so I may return to my master.”

33“So now, please let your servant remain as my lord’s slave instead of the boy. As for the boy, let him go back with his brothers.
34For how can I go back to my father if the boy is not with me? I couldn’t bear to see my father’s pain.”
34Jonathan got up from the table enraged. He did not eat any food on that second day of the new moon, for he was upset that his father had humiliated David.
28Then someone from the army informed him,“Your father put the army under a strict oath saying,‘Cursed be the man who eats food today!’ That is why the army is tired.”
29Then Jonathan said,“My father has caused trouble for the land. See how my eyes gleamed when I tasted just a little of this honey.

13When you enter the town, you can find him before he goes up to the high place to eat. The people won’t eat until he arrives, for he must bless the sacrifice. Once that happens, those who have been invited will eat. Now go on up, for this is the time when you can find him!”
28After all, there was no one in the entire house of my grandfather who did not deserve death from my lord the king. But instead you allowed me to eat at your own table! What further claim do I have to ask the king for anything?”
42Jonathan said to David,“Go in peace, for the two of us have sworn together in the name of the LORD saying,‘The LORD will be between me and you and between my descendants and your descendants forever.’”
17So Saul said to the army that was with him,“Muster the troops and see who is no longer with us.” When they mustered the troops, Jonathan and his armor bearer were not there.

11Look, my father, and see the edge of your robe in my hand! When I cut off the edge of your robe, I didn’t kill you. So realize and understand that I am not planning evil or rebellion. Even though I have not sinned against you, you are waiting in ambush to take my life.
19On the third day you should go down quickly and come to the place where you hid yourself the day this all started. Stay near the stone Ezel.
