7So in all our distress and affliction, we were reassured about you, brothers and sisters, through your faith.
4For in fact when we were with you, we were telling you in advance that we would suffer affliction, and so it has happened, as you well know.
4since we heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you have for all the saints.
5Your faith and love have arisen from the hope laid up for you in heaven, which you have heard about in the message of truth, the gospel
6that has come to you. Just as in the entire world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, so it has also been bearing fruit and growing among you from the first day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth.

11The Message of Reconciliation Therefore, because we know the fear of the Lord, we try to persuade people, but we are well known to God, and I hope we are well known to your consciences too.
12We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to be proud of us, so that you may be able to answer those who take pride in outward appearance and not in what is in the heart.
3What we have seen and heard we announce to you too, so that you may have fellowship with us(and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ).

1A Life Pleasing to God Finally then, brothers and sisters, we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received instruction from us about how you must live and please God(as you are in fact living) that you do so more and more.

11And in this regard we pray for you always, that our God will make you worthy of his calling and fulfill by his power your every desire for goodness and every work of faith,

8For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, regarding the affliction that happened to us in the province of Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of living.
7For you know yourselves how you must imitate us, because we did not behave without discipline among you,
