9Afterward King Sennacherib of Assyria, while attacking Lachish with all his military might, sent his messengers to Jerusalem. The message was for King Hezekiah of Judah and all the people of Judah who were in Jerusalem. It read:
14King Hezekiah of Judah sent this message to the king of Assyria, who was at Lachish,“I have violated our treaty. If you leave, I will do whatever you demand.” So the king of Assyria demanded that King Hezekiah of Judah pay three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
15Hezekiah gave him all the silver in the LORD’s temple and in the treasuries of the royal palace.
12The king ordered Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Achbor son of Micaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king’s servant,
9The king heard that King Tirhakah of Ethiopia was marching out to fight him. He again sent messengers to Hezekiah, ordering them:
20Early the next morning King Hezekiah assembled the city officials and went up to the LORD’s temple.
18Say this to the king of Judah, who sent you to seek an oracle from the LORD:“This is what the LORD God of Israel has said concerning the words you have heard:
22Hezekiah said,“What is the confirming sign that I will go up to the LORD’s temple?”
