28She said,“Did I ask my master for a son? Didn’t I say,‘Don’t mislead me?’”
12He told his servant Gehazi,“Ask the Shunammite woman to come here.” So he did so and she came to him.
13Elisha said to Gehazi,“Tell her,‘Look, you have treated us with such great respect. What can I do for you? Can I put in a good word for you with the king or the commander of the army?’” She replied,“I’m quite secure.”
14So he asked Gehazi,“What can I do for her?” Gehazi replied,“She has no son, and her husband is old.”
15Elisha told him,“Ask her to come here.” So he did so and she came and stood in the doorway.
26She said,“My lord. Just as surely as you are alive, my lord, I am the woman who previously stood here with you in order to pray to the LORD.
27For this boy I prayed, and the LORD has given me the request that I asked of him.
3The LORD’s angel appeared to the woman and said to her,“You are infertile and childless, but you will conceive and have a son.
36Elisha called to Gehazi and said,“Get the Shunammite woman.” So he did so and she came to him. He said to her,“Take your son.”
37She came in, fell at his feet, and bowed down. Then she picked up her son and left.
10One of them said,“I will surely return to you when the season comes round again, and your wife Sarah will have a son!”(Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, not far behind him.
13The LORD said to Abraham,“Why did Sarah laugh and say,‘Will I really have a child when I am old?’
14Is anything impossible for the LORD? I will return to you when the season comes round again and Sarah will have a son.”
15Then Sarah lied, saying,“I did not laugh,” because she was afraid. But the LORD said,“No! You did laugh.”
17After this the son of the woman who owned the house got sick. His illness was so severe he could no longer breathe.
18She asked Elijah,“Why, prophet, have you come to me to confront me with my sin and kill my son?”
19He said to her,“Hand me your son.” He took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him down on his bed.
20Then he called out to the LORD,“O LORD, my God, are you also bringing disaster on this widow I am staying with by killing her son?”
30The mother of the child said,“As certainly as the LORD lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So Elisha got up and followed her back.
11She made a vow saying,“O LORD of Heaven’s Armies, if you would truly look on the suffering of your servant, and would keep me in mind and not neglect your servant, and give your servant a male child, then I will dedicate him to the LORD all the days of his life. His hair will never be cut.”
24The woman said to Elijah,“Now I know that you are a prophet and that the LORD’s message really does come through you.”
20Then Hannah became pregnant. Hannah Dedicates Samuel to the LordIn the course of time she gave birth to a son. And she named him Samuel, thinking,“I asked the LORD for him.”
20She got up in the middle of the night and took my son from my side, while your servant was sleeping. She put him in her arms, and put her dead son in my arms.

1Elisha Again Helps the Shunammite Woman Now Elisha advised the woman whose son he had brought back to life,“You and your family should go and live somewhere else for a while, for the LORD has decreed that a famine will overtake the land for seven years.”
2So the woman did as the prophet said. She and her family went and lived in the land of the Philistines for seven years.
3After seven years the woman returned from the land of the Philistines and went to ask the king to give her back her house and field.
1Elisha Helps a Widow and Her Sons Now a wife of one of the prophets appealed to Elisha for help, saying,“Your servant, my husband is dead. You know that your servant was a loyal follower of the LORD. Now the creditor is coming to take away my two boys to be his servants.”
2Elisha said to her,“What can I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” She answered,“Your servant has nothing in the house except a small jar of olive oil.”
20As she was dying, the women who were there with her said,“Don’t be afraid! You have given birth to a son!” But she did not reply or pay any attention.
16Yes! The king may listen and deliver his female servant from the hand of the man who seeks to remove both me and my son from the inheritance God has given us!’
7He said to me,‘Look, you will conceive and have a son. So now, do not drink wine or beer and do not eat any food that will make you ritually unclean. For the child will be dedicated to God from birth till the day he dies.’”
5While Gehazi was telling the king how Elisha had brought the dead back to life, the woman whose son he had brought back to life came to ask the king for her house and field. Gehazi said,“My master, O king, this is the very woman and this is her son whom Elisha brought back to life!”
20Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife saying,“May the LORD establish descendants for you from this woman in place of the one that she dedicated to the LORD.”Then they would go to their home.
9For this is what the promise declared:“About a year from now I will return and Sarah will have a son.”
7She went and told the prophet. He said,“Go, sell the olive oil. Repay your creditor, and then you and your sons can live off the rest of the profit.”
16and she returned to her mother-in-law. Ruth Returns to NaomiWhen Ruth returned to her mother-in-law, Naomi asked,“How did things turn out for you, my daughter?” Ruth told her about all the man had done for her.
28Then the king asked her,“What’s your problem?” She answered,“This woman said to me,‘Hand over your son; we’ll eat him today and then eat my son tomorrow.’
