    22The Roman Commander Questions Paul The crowd was listening to him until he said this. Then they raised their voices and shouted,“Away with this man from the earth! For he should not be allowed to live!”

    23While they were screaming and throwing off their cloaks and tossing dust in the air,

  • 2So the chief priests and the most prominent men of the Jews brought formal charges against Paul to him.

  • 20He replied,“The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as if they were going to inquire more thoroughly about him.

    9There was a great commotion, and some experts in the law from the party of the Pharisees stood up and protested strongly,“We find nothing wrong with this man. What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”

    10When the argument became so great the commanding officer feared that they would tear Paul to pieces, he ordered the detachment to go down, take him away from them by force, and bring him into the barracks.

  • 21All who heard him were amazed and were saying,“Is this not the man who in Jerusalem was ravaging those who call on this name, and who had come here to bring them as prisoners to the chief priests?”

  • 26And you see and hear that this Paul has persuaded and turned away a large crowd, not only in Ephesus but in practically all of the province of Asia, by saying that gods made by hands are not gods at all.

  • 11He came to us, took Paul’s belt, tied his own hands and feet with it, and said,“The Holy Spirit says this:‘This is the way the Jews in Jerusalem will tie up the man whose belt this is, and will hand him over to the Gentiles.’”

  • 12The Plot to Kill Paul When morning came, the Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink anything until they had killed Paul.

  • 30When I was informed there would be a plot against this man, I sent him to you at once, also ordering his accusers to state their charges against him before you.

  • 19When Paul had greeted them, he began to explain in detail what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.
