40I will destroy Babylonia just like I did Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring towns. No one will live there. No human being will settle in it,” says the LORD.
1The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah The two angels came to Sodom in the evening while Lot was sitting in the city’s gateway. When Lot saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face toward the ground.
2He said,“Here, my lords, please turn aside to your servant’s house. Stay the night and wash your feet. Then you can be on your way early in the morning.”“No,” they replied,“we’ll spend the night in the town square.”

10Listen to the LORD’s message, you leaders of Sodom! Pay attention to our God’s rebuke, people of Gomorrah!
7So also Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring towns, since they indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire in a way similar to these angels, are now displayed as an example by suffering the punishment of eternal fire.
15At dawn the angels hurried Lot along, saying,“Get going! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or else you will be destroyed when the city is judged!”
9Edom’s streams will be turned into pitch and her soil into brimstone; her land will become burning pitch.
18Edom will be destroyed like Sodom and Gomorrah and the towns that were around them. No one will live there. No human being will settle in it,” says the LORD.
4Before they could lie down to sleep, all the men– both young and old, from every part of the city of Sodom– surrounded the house.
