Then Haggai responded,“‘The people of this nation are unclean in my sight,’ decrees the LORD.‘And so is all their effort; everything they offer is also unclean.

  • 2Or when there is a person who touches anything ceremonially unclean, whether the carcass of an unclean wild animal, or the carcass of an unclean domesticated animal, or the carcass of an unclean creeping thing, even if he did not realize it, but he himself has become unclean and is guilty;

  • 4Who can make a clean thing come from an unclean? No one!

    15They assembled their brothers and consecrated themselves. Then they went in to purify the LORD’s temple, just as the king had ordered, in accordance with the word of the LORD.

    16The priests then entered the LORD’s temple to purify it; they brought out to the courtyard of the LORD’s temple every ceremonially unclean thing they discovered inside. The Levites took them out to the Kidron Valley.

  • 11If what is vowed is an unclean animal from which an offering must not be presented to the LORD, then he must stand the animal before the priest,

  • 7And those men said to him,“We are ceremonially defiled by the dead body of a man; why are we kept back from offering the LORD’s offering at its appointed time among the Israelites?”

  • 26Her priests abuse my law and have desecrated my holy things. They do not distinguish between the holy and the profane, or recognize any distinction between the unclean and the clean. They ignore my Sabbaths and I am profaned in their midst.

  • 38Moreover, they have done this to me: In the very same day they desecrated my sanctuary and profaned my Sabbaths.

  • 13You also do this: You cover the altar of the LORD with tears as you weep and groan, because he no longer pays any attention to the offering nor accepts it favorably from you.

  • 21When a person touches anything unclean(whether human uncleanness, or an unclean animal, or an unclean detestable creature) and eats some of the meat of the peace offering sacrifice which belongs to the LORD, that person will be cut off from his people.’”
