21Tell them:‘Hear this, you foolish people who have no understanding, who have eyes but do not discern, who have ears but do not perceive:
7I am about to bring foreigners against you, the most terrifying of nations. They will draw their swords against the grandeur made by your wisdom, and they will defile your splendor.
13For he says:“By my strong hand I have accomplished this, by my strategy that I devised. I invaded the territory of nations, and looted their storehouses. Like a mighty conqueror, I brought down rulers.
19For the wisdom of this age is foolishness with God. As it is written,“He catches the wise in their craftiness.”
20And again,“The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”
14And concerning them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says:‘You will listen carefully yet will never understand, you will look closely yet will never comprehend.
21For the LORD will rise up, as he did at Mount Perazim, he will rouse himself, as he did in the Valley of Gibeon, to accomplish his work, his peculiar work, to perform his task, his strange task.
9“I, the LORD, say:‘This shows how I will ruin the highly exalted position in which Judah and Jerusalem take pride.
4Because you have closed their minds to understanding, therefore you will not exalt them.
9Concluding Exhortation Who is wise? Let him discern these things! Who is discerning? Let him understand them! For the ways of the LORD are right; the godly walk in them,but in them the rebellious stumble.
