10The mountains were covered by its shadow, the highest cedars by its branches.

5Therefore it grew taller than all the trees of the field; its boughs grew large and its branches grew long, because of the plentiful water in its shoots.
6All the birds of the sky nested in its boughs; under its branches all the beasts of the field gave birth, in its shade all the great nations lived.
7It was beautiful in its loftiness, in the length of its branches; for its roots went down deep to plentiful waters.
8The cedars in the garden of God could not eclipse it, nor could the fir trees match its boughs; the plane trees were as nothing compared to its branches; no tree in the garden of God could rival its beauty.
9I made it beautiful with its many branches; all the trees of Eden, in the garden of God, envied it.
19After noticing a fig tree by the road he went to it, but found nothing on it except leaves. He said to it,“Never again will there be fruit from you!” And the fig tree withered at once.

16The trees of the LORD receive all the rain they need, the cedars of Lebanon which he planted,
14He called out loudly as follows:‘Chop down the tree and lop off its branches! Strip off its foliage and scatter its fruit! Let the animals flee from under it and the birds from its branches!
24All the trees of the field will know that I am the LORD. I make the high tree low; I raise up the low tree. I make the green tree wither, and I make the dry tree sprout. I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will do it!’”
11Its boughs were strong, fit for rulers’ scepters; it reached up into the clouds. It stood out because of its height and its many branches.
33Then let the trees of the forest shout with joy before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth!
20The tree that you saw that grew large and strong, whose top reached to the sky, and which could be seen in all the land,
21whose foliage was attractive and its fruit plentiful, and from which there was food available for all, under whose branches wild animals used to live, and in whose branches birds of the sky used to nest–
10In that day,’ says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies,‘everyone will invite his friend to fellowship under his vine and under his fig tree.’”
11The tree grew large and strong. Its top reached far into the sky; it could be seen from the borders of all the land.
12Its foliage was attractive and its fruit plentiful; on it there was food enough for all. Under it the wild animals used to seek shade, and in its branches the birds of the sky used to nest. All creatures used to feed themselves from it.
1Burning a Useless Vine The LORD’s message came to me:
2“Son of man, of all the woody branches among the trees of the forest, what happens to the wood of the vine?
5He took one of the seedlings of the land, placed it in a cultivated plot; a shoot by abundant water, like a willow he planted it.
6It sprouted and became a vine, spreading low to the ground; its branches turning toward him, its roots were under itself. So it became a vine; it produced shoots and sent out branches.
9Even now the ax is laid at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”
8Although its roots may grow old in the ground and its stump begins to die in the soil,
9at the scent of water it will flourish and put forth shoots like a new plant.
9“‘Say to them: This is what the Sovereign LORD says:“‘Will it prosper? Will he not rip out its roots and cause its fruit to rot and wither? All its foliage will wither. No strong arm or large army will be needed to pull it out by its roots.
20The Withered Fig Tree In the morning as they passed by, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots.
21Peter remembered and said to him,“Rabbi, look! The fig tree you cursed has withered.”
9you mountains and all you hills, you fruit trees and all you cedars,
14He said to it,“May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it.
12Let the fields and everything in them celebrate! Then let the trees of the forest shout with joy
6His young shoots will grow; his splendor will be like an olive tree, his fragrance like a cedar of Lebanon.
12The vine has dried up; the fig tree languishes– the pomegranate, date, and apple as well. In fact, all the trees of the field have dried up. Indeed, the joy of the people has dried up!
18do not boast over the branches. But if you boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.
9Then if it bears fruit next year, very well, but if not, you can cut it down.’”
13The fig tree has ripened its figs, the vines have blossomed and give off their fragrance. Arise, come away my darling; my beautiful one, come away with me!”
