5David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead, and said to them, "Blessed are you by Yahweh, that you have shown this kindness to your lord, even to Saul, and have buried him.
6Now may Yahweh show loving kindness and truth to you. I also will reward you for this kindness, because you have done this thing.

8David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, "My lord the king!" When Saul looked behind him, David bowed with his face to the earth, and did obeisance.
9David said to Saul, "Why do you listen to men's words, saying, 'Behold, David seeks your hurt?'
10Behold, this day your eyes have seen how that Yahweh had delivered you today into my hand in the cave. Some urged me to kill you; but I spared you; and I said, I will not put forth my hand against my lord; for he is Yahweh's anointed.
12Saul said, "Hear now, you son of Ahitub." He answered, "Here I am, my lord."
13Saul said to him, "Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread, and a sword, and have inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?"
30Then he said, "I have sinned: yet please honor me now before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and come back with me, that I may worship Yahweh your God."
21Saul answered, "Am I not a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? And my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why then do you speak to me like this?"
5Behold, Saul came following the oxen out of the field; and Saul said, "What ails the people that they weep?" They told him the words of the men of Jabesh.

16Turn to me, and have mercy on me, for I am desolate and afflicted.
21But deal with me, Yahweh the Lord, for your name's sake, because your loving kindness is good, deliver me;
31When the words were heard which David spoke, they rehearsed them before Saul; and he sent for him.
6Blessed be Yahweh, because he has heard the voice of my petitions.
7It was told Saul that David had come to Keilah. Saul said, "God has delivered him into my hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that has gates and bars."
10Then Saul said to his servant, "Well said. Come, let us go." So they went to the city where the man of God was.
16Then Samuel said to Saul, "Stay, and I will tell you what Yahweh has said to me last night." He said to him, "Say on."
38Saul said, "Draw near here, all you chiefs of the people; and know and see in which this sin has been this day.
