8Moreover I make a decree what you shall do to these elders of the Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king's goods, even of the tribute beyond the River, expenses be given with all diligence to these men, that they be not hindered.

13So the workmen worked, and the work of repairing went forward in their hands, and they set up the house of God in its state, and strengthened it.
8Be it known to the king, that we went into the province of Judah, to the house of the great God, which is built with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls; and this work goes on with diligence and prospers in their hands.
9Then we asked those elders, and said to them thus, "Who gave you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?"
12But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven to wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.

7But it happened that when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabians, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem went forward, [and] that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very angry;
10Judah said, "The strength of the bearers of burdens is fading, and there is much rubbish; so that we are not able to build the wall."
11Our adversaries said, "They shall not know, neither see, until we come into the midst of them, and kill them, and cause the work to cease."
15So the wall was finished in the twenty-fifth [day] of [the month] Elul, in fifty-two days.
4It happened, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days; and I fasted and prayed before the God of heaven,
