9Joshua said to the children of Israel, "Come here, and hear the words of Yahweh your God."
10Joshua said, "Hereby you shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Hivite, and the Perizzite, and the Girgashite, and the Amorite, and the Jebusite out from before you.
22Only on this condition will the men consent to us to live with us, to become one people, if every male among us is circumcised, as they are circumcised.
23Won't their livestock and their possessions and all their animals be ours? Only let us give our consent to them, and they will dwell with us."
19There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, except the Hivites, the inhabitants of Gibeon. They took all in battle.

25Now, behold, we are in your hand. Do to us as it seems good and right to you to do."

20This we will do to them, and let them live; lest wrath be on us, because of the oath which we swore to them."

3But when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and to Ai,

1Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabesh Gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, "Make a covenant with us, and we will serve you."
4"Come up to me, and help me, and let us strike Gibeon; for it has made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel."
12Be careful, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be for a snare in the midst of you:

9If they say thus to us, 'Wait until we come to you!' then we will stand still in our place, and will not go up to them.
10You shall dwell with us, and the land will be before you. Live and trade in it, and get possessions in it."
5They said to the king, "The man who consumed us, and who devised against us, that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the borders of Israel,
12Joshua spoke to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, saying,
13It happened, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man stood in front of him with his sword drawn in his hand. Joshua went to him, and said to him, "Are you for us, or for our adversaries?"
10Come, let us deal wisely with them, lest they multiply, and it happen that when any war breaks out, they also join themselves to our enemies, and fight against us, and escape out of the land."
16then will we give our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.
22You came near to me everyone of you, and said, "Let us send men before us, that they may search the land for us, and bring us word again of the way by which we must go up, and the cities to which we shall come."
6The men of Gibeon sent to Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, "Don't abandon your servants! Come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us; for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the hill country have gathered together against us."
