1Therefore let us also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

9Furthermore, we had the fathers of our flesh to chasten us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits, and live?
1Forasmuch then as Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;
2that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.
9Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings.
7Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
20But you did not learn Christ that way;

10My son, if sinners entice you, don't consent.
17For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one other, that you may not do the things that you desire.
