15It happened, when our enemies heard that it was known to us, and God had brought their counsel to nothing, that we returned all of us to the wall, everyone to his work.
16It happened from that time forth, that half of my servants worked in the work, and half of them held the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the coats of mail; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.
17They all built the wall and those who bore burdens loaded themselves; everyone with one of his hands worked in the work, and with the other held his weapon;
18and the builders, everyone had his sword girded by his side, and so built. He who sounded the trumpet was by me.
19I said to the nobles, and to the rulers and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated on the wall, one far from another:
20in whatever place you hear the sound of the trumpet, resort you there to us; our God will fight for us.
21So we worked in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning until the stars appeared.
3I said to them, Don't let the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand [on guard], let them shut the doors, and bar you them: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, everyone in his watch, and everyone [to be] over against his house.
16Yes, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered there to the work.

18I told them of the hand of my God which was good on me, as also of the king's words that he had spoken to me. They said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for the good [work].
19It came to pass that, when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the doors should be shut, and commanded that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath: and some of my servants set I over the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the Sabbath day.
20So the merchants and sellers of all kind of wares lodged outside of Jerusalem once or twice.
21Then I testified against them, and said to them, Why lodge you about the wall? if you do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the Sabbath.
22I commanded the Levites that they should purify themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the Sabbath day. Remember to me, my God, this also, and spare me according to the greatness of your loving kindness.
6A third part shall be at the gate Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall you keep the watch of the house, and be a barrier.
7The two companies of you, even all who go forth on the Sabbath, shall keep the watch of the house of Yahweh about the king.
26for the four chief porters, who were Levites, were in an office of trust, and were over the chambers and over the treasuries in the house of God.
27They lodged round about the house of God, because the charge [of it] was on them; and to them pertained the opening of it morning by morning.
12I arose in the night, I and some few men with me; neither told I any man what my God put into my heart to do for Jerusalem; neither was there any animal with me, except the animal that I rode on.

3Now these are the chiefs of the province who lived in Jerusalem: but in the cities of Judah lived everyone in his possession in their cities, [to wit], Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinim, and the children of Solomon's servants.
30Thus cleansed I them from all foreigners, and appointed charges for the priests and for the Levites, everyone in his work;
6to the carpenters, and to the builders, and to the masons, and for buying timber and hewn stone to repair the house.
10I went to the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to kill you; yes, in the night will they come to kill you.
6I have set watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day nor night: you who call on Yahweh, take no rest,
40So stood the two companies of those who gave thanks in the house of God, and I, and the half of the rulers with me;
7I did so as I was commanded: I brought forth my stuff by day, as stuff for removing, and in the even I dug through the wall with my hand; I brought it forth in the dark, and bore it on my shoulder in their sight.
15There are also workmen with you in abundance, cutters and workers of stone and timber, and all kinds of men who are skillful in every kind of work:

70So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinim, lived in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
4Then we told them after this manner, what the names of the men were who were making this building.
4Whoever is left, in any place where he sojourns, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with animals, besides the freewill-offering for the house of God which is in Jerusalem.
19These were those who waited on the king, besides those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.
7let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in its place.
