And, as I may say, Levi also, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham.

For he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him.

If therefore perfection were through the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should arise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

Who is made, not after the law of a fleshly commandment, but according to the power of an endless life.

For he testifies, You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

For there is indeed a setting aside of the former commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness.

For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by which we draw near to God.

By so much was Jesus made the guarantor of a better covenant.

And they truly were many priests, because they were not allowed to continue by reason of death:

But he, because he continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood.

For such a high priest was fitting for us, who is holy, innocent, undefiled, separate from sinners, and exalted above the heavens;

Who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for he did this once, when he offered up himself.

For the law appoints as high priests men who have weaknesses; but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints the Son, who is perfected forever.
