Herren sa til Moses: «Jeg vil bringe enda en plage over farao og Egypt. Etter det vil han la dere dra herfra. Når han lar dere gå, vil han faktisk drive dere helt ut.»

And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.

Si nå til folket at hver mann skal be sin nabo om å låne dem sølvsmykker og gullsmykker, og hver kvinne skal gjøre det samme med sin nabo.

Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold.

Herren gjorde at folket fikk velvilje hos egypterne. Moses ble også ansett som en meget stor mann i Egypt, både for faraos tjenere og for hele folket.

And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people.

Moses sa: «Så sier Herren: Ved midnatt skal jeg gå gjennom Egypt.»

And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:

Da skal alle førstefødte i Egypt dø, fra faraos førstefødte som sitter på tronen, til den førstefødte av tjenestejenten som er ved kvernen, og alle de førstefødte blant dyrene.

And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.

Det skal bli et voldsomt skrik i hele Egypt, noe som aldri har vært hørt før og aldri mer vil bli hørt.

And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.

Men blant Israels folk skal ikke engang en hund bjeffe mot noe menneske eller dyr, så dere kan vite at Herren gjør forskjell på egypterne og Israel.

But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.

Alle dine tjenere skal komme til meg, bøye seg for meg og si: 'Dra bort, du og hele folket som følger deg.' Etter det vil jeg dra.» Og Moses gikk bort fra farao i stor vrede.

And all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in a great anger.

Herren sa til Moses: «Farao vil ikke lytte til dere, slik at mine under kan bli mange i Egypt.»

And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.

Moses og Aron utførte alle disse undrene foran farao, men Herren gjorde faraos hjerte hardt, så han ikke lot Israels barn dra ut av landet.

And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land.
