    40አቢሜሌክ ግን አሳደደው፤ እርሱም ከፊቱ ሸሸ፤ ብዙዎችም እስከ በሩ መግቢያ ድረስ ተገለበጡና ተቀስቀሱ።

    41አቢሜሌክም በአሩማ ኖረ፤ ዘቡልም ጋኣልንና ወንድሞቹን ከሴኬም አባረራቸው እንዳይኖሩባት።

    42በማግሥቱም ሕዝቡ ወደ መስክ ወጡ፤ ለአቢሜሌክም ተነገረ።

    43እርሱም ሕዝቡን ወስዶ ሶስት ቡድኖች አደረጋቸው፤ በመስክም ተኝታ አኖሩ፤ ተመልክቶም እነሆ ሕዝቡ ከከተማይቱ ሲወጡ ባየ ጊዜ ተነሥቶ በላያቸው ወጣ መታቸውም።

    44አቢሜሌክና ከእርሱ ጋር ያለ ቡድን ፈጥነው ሮጠው በከተማይቱ በር መግቢያ ላይ ቆመው፤ ሌሎቹ ሁለት ቡድኖች ግን በመስክ ያሉትን ሕዝብ ሁሉ ላይ ሮጠው ገደሉአቸው።

    28ጋኣል የኤቤድ ልጅም እንዲህ አለ፦ “አቢሜሌክ ማን ነው? ሴኬምስ ማን ነው እንድንገለግለው? ይሩብባል ልጅ አይደለምን? ዘቡልስ መኰንኑ አይደለምን? የሴኬም አባት የሆነውን የሐሞር ሰዎች አገልግለን! ለምን እንገለግለው?”

    29“ይህ ሕዝብ በእጄ ሥር ቢሆን እግዚአብሔር ይሁን! አቢሜሌክን አስወግዳለሁ ነበር።” ከዚያም ለአቢሜሌክ እንዲህ አለ፦ “ሠራዊትህን አብዛ እና ውጣ!”

    30ከተማይቱ አለቃ ዘቡል የጋኣል የኤቤድ ልጅ ቃል በሰማ ጊዜ ቍጣ ነደደበት።

    31እርሱም ለአቢሜሌክ በስውር መልእክተኞችን ላከና እንዲህ አለው፦ “እነሆ፣ ጋኣል የኤቤድ ልጅ ከወንድሞቹ ጋር ወደ ሴኬም መጥቶአል፤ እነሆም ከተማይቱን በአንተ ላይ እየጠነከሩአት ናቸው።”

    32“አሁንም ሌሊት አንተና ከአንተ ጋር ያሉት ሕዝብ ተነሣችሁ ወደ መስክ ሂዱና ተኝታ አኑሩ፤”

    33“ከዚያም ጸሓይ እንደ ወጣ በጠዋት የምታገኙትን ጊዜ ቀርባችሁ በከተማይቱ ላይ ድንገት ይዘራችሁ፤ እነሆም እሱና ከእርሱ ጋር ያሉ ሕዝብ ወደ አንተ ሊወጡ በሚጀምሩ ጊዜ እንደ ተገባ አድርግባቸው።”
