    9እግዚአብሔርም ወደ ባላም መጥቶ አለው፦ ከአንተ ጋር እነዚህ ሰዎች ማን ናቸው?

    10ባላምም ለእግዚአብሔር አለ፦ የሞዓብ ንጉሥ ጽፖር ልጅ ባላቅ እንዲህ ሲል ልኮኛል፤

    11እነሆ፣ አንድ ሕዝብ ከግብጽ ወጥቶአል፤ የምድርን ፊት ይሸፍናል፤ እንግዲህ ና ለእኔ ርግማን በላቸው፤ ምናልባት እችላለሁ እንድላይ እና ከምድር እንድነድዳቸው።

    12እግዚአብሔርም ለባላም አለው፦ ከእነርሱ ጋር አትሂድ፤ ሕዝቡን አትርገማቸው፤ እነርሱ ተባረኩ ናቸውና።

    13ባላም በማለዳ ተነሥቶ ለባላቅ አለቆች አለ፦ ወደ አገራችሁ ተመለሱ፤ እግዚአብሔር ከእናንተ ጋር መሄድን አልፈቀደልኝም።

    14የሞዓብ አለቆችም ተነሥተው ወደ ባላቅ ሄዱ እና አሉ፦ ባላም ከእኛ ጋር መምጣትን አልተቀበለም።

    15ባላቅም ደግሞ ከእነርሱ ይልቅ የበለጠ ብዙና ከባለ ክብር አለቆችን ላከ።

    16እነርሱም ወደ ባላም መጥተው አሉት፦ ጽፖር ልጅ ባላቅ እንዲህ ይላል፤ እባክህ ወደ እኔ ከመምጣት እንዳትዘገይ ምንም አይግድድህ።

    17ለማለት እጅግ በጣም አከብርሃለሁ፤ አንተ የምትለኝን ሁሉ አሠራለሁ፤ እንግዲህ እባክህ ና ይህን ሕዝብ ርግማን በላቸው።

    40ባላቅም በሬዎችና በጎች አሳድመለት፤ ለባላምና ከእርሱ ጋር ለነበሩ አለቆች ላከ።

    41በማግስቱም ባላቅ ባላምን ወስዶ ወደ ባኣል ከፍታዎች አወጣው፤ ከዚያም የሕዝቡን መጨረሻ ክፍል ያይ ዘንድ አሳየው።
