  • Jer 36:8-9 : 8 Baruch son of Neriah did everything Jeremiah the prophet commanded him. He read from the scroll the words of the LORD in the house of the LORD. 9 In the fifth year of Jehoiakim, son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, a fast was proclaimed before the LORD for all the people in Jerusalem and those who had come from the towns of Judah. 10 Then Baruch read from the scroll the words of Jeremiah in the house of the LORD, in the chamber of Gemariah son of Shaphan the secretary, which was in the upper court at the entrance of the New Gate of the LORD’s house, in the hearing of all the people. 11 When Micaiah son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, heard all the words of the LORD from the scroll, 12 he went down to the king’s palace, to the chamber of the secretary, where all the officials were sitting—Elishama the secretary, Delaiah son of Shemaiah, Elnathan son of Achbor, Gemariah son of Shaphan, Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the other officials. 13 Then Micaiah told them everything he had heard Baruch read from the scroll to the people. 14 So all the officials sent Jehudi son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, "Bring the scroll from which you have read aloud to the people, and come." So Baruch son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand and went to them. 15 The officials said to him, "Please sit down and read it to us." So Baruch read it to them. 16 When they heard all the words, they turned to each other in fear and said to Baruch, "We must report all these words to the king." 17 Then they asked Baruch, "Tell us, how did you write all these words? Did Jeremiah dictate to you?" 18 Baruch answered them, "Jeremiah dictated all these words to me, and I wrote them down with ink on the scroll."
