Then it went up to the top of the hill that overlooks the Valley of Hinnom to the west, at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaim. 9 From the top of the mountain, the boundary extended to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, went out to the cities of Mount Ephron, and then the boundary was marked out to Baalah (which is Kiriath-jearim). 10 The boundary turned westward from Baalah to Mount Seir, passed along to the northern slope of Mount Jearim (that is, Chesalon), went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed by Timnah. 11 It continued to the northern slope of Ekron, turned toward Shikkeron, passed by Mount Baalah, and went on to Jabneel, ending at the sea. 12 The western boundary was the coastline of the Great Sea. This was the boundary around the clans of the descendants of Judah. 13 To Caleb son of Jephunneh, he was given a portion among the descendants of Judah, based on the Lord’s command to Joshua, the city of Arba (father of Anak), which is Hebron. 14 Caleb expelled from there the three descendants of Anak: Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, the offspring of Anak. 15 From there he went up against the inhabitants of Debir, which was formerly called Kiriath-sepher. 16 Caleb said, 'Whoever attacks Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give him my daughter Achsah as his wife.' 17 Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s brother, captured it, so Caleb gave him his daughter Achsah as his wife. 18 When she came to him, she urged him to ask her father for a field.
