  • Josh 13:1-9 : 1 Now Joshua had become old and advanced in years, and the LORD said to him, "You are old and advanced in years, and much of the land remains to be taken over." 2 This is the land that remains: all the regions of the Philistines and the entire area of the Geshurites. 3 From the Shihor River (which is near Egypt) to the northern boundary of Ekron, which is counted as part of the Canaanite land; the five rulers of the Philistines—Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath, and Ekron—and the Avvites. 4 From the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that belongs to the Sidonians, as far as Aphek, to the border of the Amorites. 5 The land of the Gebalites, and all of Lebanon eastward from Baal Gad below Mount Hermon, as far as the entrance of Hamath. 6 All the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon to Misrephoth-maim, including all the Sidonians—I Myself will drive them out before the Israelites. Be sure to allocate the land to Israel for an inheritance as I have commanded you. 7 Now divide this land as an inheritance for the nine tribes and the half-tribe of Manasseh. 8 The other half-tribe, along with the Reubenites and the Gadites, has already received the inheritance that Moses gave them beyond the Jordan to the east, as the servant of the LORD had assigned to them. 9 Their territory extended from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Valley, including the city in the middle of the valley, and the entire plateau from Medeba to Dibon. 10 It also included all the cities of Sihon, king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, up to the border of the Ammonites. 11 Additionally, it included Gilead, the territory of the Geshurites and Maachathites, all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan as far as Salcah. 12 This encompassed the entire kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei, and was the last of the Rephaim. Moses defeated them and dispossessed them. 13 However, the Israelites did not drive out the Geshurites or the Maachathites. So Geshur and Maachath continue to live among the Israelites to this day. 14 But to the tribe of Levi, Moses gave no inheritance, for the offerings made by fire to the LORD, the God of Israel, are their inheritance, as He promised. 15 Moses gave to the tribe of the Reubenites, according to their clans: 16 Their territory extended from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Valley, including the city in the middle of the valley, and the entire plateau near Medeba. 17 Heshbon and all its cities on the plain, including Dibon, Bamoth Baal, and Beth Baal Meon. 18 Also, Jahaz, Kedemoth, and Mephaath, 19 as well as Kiriathaim, Sibmah, and Zereth-shahar on the hill of the valley,
