9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count slackness; but is longsuffering to you-ward, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
13Wherefore girding up the loins of your mind, be sober and set your hope perfectly on the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14as children of obedience, not fashioning yourselves according to your former lusts in [the time of] your ignorance:
15but like as he who called you is holy, be ye yourselves also holy in all manner of living;
16because it is written, Ye shall be holy; for I am holy.
17And if ye call on him as Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to each man's work, pass the time of your sojourning in fear:
2beholding your chaste behavior [coupled] with fear.
7But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore of sound mind, and be sober unto prayer:
12having your behavior seemly among the Gentiles; that, wherein they speak against you as evil-doers, they may by your good works, which they behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
17If any man destroyeth the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, and such are ye.
3seeing that his divine power hath granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue;
4whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in that world by lust.
17Ye therefore, beloved, knowing [these things] beforehand, beware lest, being carried away with the error of the wicked, ye fall from your own stedfastness.
10Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never stumble:
11for thus shall be richly supplied unto you the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
11They shall perish; but thou continuest: And they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
9who shall suffer punishment, [even] eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might,
10when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be marvelled at in all them that believed (because our testimony unto you was believed) in that day.
15but sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord: [being] ready always to give answer to every man that asketh you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with meekness and fear:
30after the same manner shall it be in the day that the Son of man is revealed.
1But know this, that in the last days grievous times shall come.
12instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present world;
13looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
20For our citizenship is in heaven; whence also we wait for a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
11For if that which passeth away [was] with glory, much more that which remaineth [is] in glory.
13each man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire itself shall prove each man's work of what sort it is.
1Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
14knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle cometh swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ signified unto me.
15Yea, I will give diligence that at every time ye may be able after my decease to call these things to remembrance.
27And this [word], Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain.
2to the end that ye be not quickly shaken from your mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by epistle as from us, as that the day of the Lord is just at hand;
3And every one that hath this hope [set] on him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
2that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
4wherein they think it strange that ye run not with [them] into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of [you] :
7that the proof of your faith, [being] more precious than gold that perisheth though it is proved by fire, may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ:
11For behold, this selfsame thing, that ye were made sorry after a godly sort, what earnest care it wrought in you, yea what clearing of yourselves, yea what indignation, yea what fear, yea what longing, yea what zeal, yea what avenging! In everything ye approved yourselves to be pure in the matter.
17But ye, beloved, remember ye the words which have been spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
31and those that use the world, as not using it to the full: for the fashion of this world passeth away.
