1In like manner, ye wives, [be] in subjection to your own husbands; that, even if any obey not the word, they may without the word be gained by the behavior of their wives;
3Whose [adorning] let it not be the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on apparel;
4but [let it be] the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible [apparel] of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
5For after this manner aforetime the holy women also, who hoped in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands:

12having your behavior seemly among the Gentiles; that, wherein they speak against you as evil-doers, they may by your good works, which they behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
2that aged men be temperate, grave, sober-minded, sound in faith, in love, in patience:
3that aged women likewise be reverent in demeanor, not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of that which is good;
4that they may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
5[ to be] sober-minded, chaste, workers at home, kind, being in subjection to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed:
14But even if ye should suffer for righteousness' sake, blessed [are ye]: and fear not their fear, neither be troubled;
15but sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord: [being] ready always to give answer to every man that asketh you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with meekness and fear:
16having a good conscience; that, wherein ye are spoken against, they may be put to shame who revile your good manner of life in Christ.
18Wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

11Seeing that these things are thus all to be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in [all] holy living and godliness,

17Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

12So then, my beloved, even as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
