9And now, I pray you, entreat the favor of God, that he may be gracious unto us: this hath been by your means: will he accept any of your persons? saith Jehovah of hosts.
10Oh that there were one among you that would shut the doors, that ye might not kindle [fire on] mine altar in vain! I have no pleasure in you, saith Jehovah of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.
15And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are built up; yea, they tempt God, and escape.
12When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to trample my courts?
5Now therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways.
6Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages [to put it] into a bag with holes.

7From the days of your fathers ye have turned aside from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith Jehovah of hosts. But ye say, Wherein shall we return?
8Will a man rob God? yet ye rob me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

14Therefore hath Jehovah watched over the evil, and brought it upon us; for Jehovah our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth, and we have not obeyed his voice.
8How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of Jehovah is with us? But, behold, the false pen of the scribes hath wrought falsely.
19Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul loathed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and, behold, dismay!
17But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye say, Let us go and sacrifice to Jehovah.
12Behold, all ye yourselves have seen it; Why then are ye become altogether vain?
29Wherefore will ye contend with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith Jehovah.

11The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet they lean upon Jehovah, and say, Is not Jehovah in the midst of us? no evil shall come upon us.
13Gird yourselves [with sackcloth], and lament, ye priests; wail, ye ministers of the altar; come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meal-offering and the drink-offering are withholden from the house of your God.
16Is not the food cut off before our eyes, [yea], joy and gladness from the house of our God?
40Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to Jehovah.
