  • Num 26:9-9 : 9 The sons of Eliab: Nemuel, Dathan, and Abiram. These were the same Dathan and Abiram, community leaders who opposed Moses and Aaron as part of Korah’s assembly, inciting rebellion against the Lord. 10 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, along with Korah, when that assembly died, as the fire consumed 250 men, serving as a warning sign. 11 However, the sons of Korah did not die.

They belonged to the divisions of the Levites. 19 Shallum son of Kore, son of Ebiasaph, son of Korah, and his relatives, the Korahites, were in charge of the work of service, guarding the thresholds of the tent, as their ancestors had guarded the entrance to the camp of the Lord. 20 Phinehas son of Eleazar was the leader over them formerly, and the Lord was with him. 21 Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was the gatekeeper at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. 22 The total number of those chosen as gatekeepers at the thresholds was 212. They were registered by their genealogies in their villages. David and Samuel the seer had appointed them to their trusted office. 23 They and their descendants were assigned to guard the gates of the house of the Lord—the house of the tent—by rotations. 24 The gatekeepers were positioned on all four sides: east, west, north, and south. 25 Their relatives in their villages were required to come in for seven days at regular intervals to join them. 26 For these four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the chambers and the treasuries of the house of God because of their faithfulness. 27 They spent the night around the house of God because they were responsible for its guard and for opening it each morning.
