2Daniel declared, 'I saw in my vision during the night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the great sea.'

3Four great beasts, each different from the other, came up out of the sea.

4The first was like a lion and had wings like an eagle. I watched until its wings were plucked off, and it was lifted up from the ground to stand on two feet like a man, and a human heart was given to it.

5Then I saw a second beast, which looked like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and it had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. And they said to it, 'Arise, devour much flesh!'

6After this, I looked, and behold, there was another beast, like a leopard. It had four wings of a bird on its back, and the beast had four heads. Dominion was given to it.

7After this, I saw in the visions of the night a fourth beast, terrifying, dreadful, and exceedingly strong. It had large iron teeth and devoured, crushed, and trampled the remainder with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that came before it, and it had ten horns.

8I was considering the horns, and behold, another horn, a small one, came up among them. Three of the first horns were uprooted before it. And behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of a man and a mouth speaking great things.

9I continued watching until thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, and its wheels were burning fire.

10A river of fire was flowing and coming out from before Him. A thousand thousands served Him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court sat, and the books were opened.

11I continued to watch because of the sound of the boastful words spoken by the horn. I watched until the beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and given over to be burned with fire.

12As for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away, but their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

13I continued watching in the visions of the night, and behold, with the clouds of heaven came one like a son of man. He approached the Ancient of Days and was presented before Him.

3I looked up, and there before me was a ram with two high horns standing beside the canal. One horn was higher than the other, and the higher one grew later.

4I saw the ram charging to the west, north, and south. No animal could stand against it, and no one could rescue from its power. It did as it pleased and became great.

5As I was pondering this, suddenly a male goat came from the west, crossing the entire earth without touching the ground, and it had a notable horn between its eyes.

6It came toward the two-horned ram I had seen standing beside the canal and charged at it in great rage.

7I saw it attack the ram furiously, striking it and breaking its two horns. The ram was powerless to stand against it; the goat knocked it to the ground and trampled on it, and no one could rescue the ram from its power.

8The male goat became very great, but at the height of its power, its large horn was broken off, and in its place, four prominent horns grew toward the four winds of heaven.

9Out of one of them came a little horn, which grew exceedingly great toward the south, the east, and the Beautiful Land.

10It grew until it reached the host of heaven, and it cast some of the stars and the host down to the earth and trampled on them.
