He took one of the stones from the place, put it under his head, and lay down in that place. 12 And he dreamed; behold, there was a ladder set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven. The angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13 And there was the Lord standing above it, and He said, 'I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. The land on which you are lying, I will give to you and to your descendants.' 14 Your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west, to the east, to the north, and to the south. Through you and your descendants, all the families of the earth will be blessed. 15 Look, I am with you, and I will guard you wherever you go. I will bring you back to this land, because I will not leave you until I have done everything I promised you. 16 Jacob woke up from his sleep and said, 'Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.' 17 He was afraid and said, 'How amazing is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.' 18 Early in the morning, Jacob took the stone he had used as a pillow, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on its top. 19 He called the name of that place Bethel, but previously the name of the city was called Luz. 20 Then Jacob made a vow, saying, 'If God will be with me and watch over me on this journey I am taking, and give me food to eat and clothes to wear,

It will then go out to Hazar-addar and proceed to Azmon. 5 From Azmon, the boundary will turn to the Wadi of Egypt and end at the Mediterranean Sea. 6 Your western boundary will be the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea; this will be your boundary to the west. 7 Your northern boundary will run from the Mediterranean Sea to Mount Hor. 8 From Mount Hor, you will mark out the boundary to the entrance of Hamath, and the boundary will end at Zedad. 9 The boundary will then go out to Ziphron and end at Hazar-enan. This will be your northern boundary. 10 For your eastern boundary, you are to draw a line from Hazar-enan to Shepham. 11 The boundary will descend from Shepham to Riblah on the east side of Ain and continue downward along the slopes eastward to the Sea of Galilee. 12 The boundary will then follow down the Jordan River and end at the Salt Sea.
