Verse 1

The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Verse 2

Speak to the Israelites and say to them: When someone makes a special vow to dedicate persons to the LORD according to your valuation,

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When a man shall make a singular vow, the persons shall be for the LORD by thy estimation.

Verse 3

the valuation for a male from twenty years old to sixty years old shall be fifty shekels of silver according to the sanctuary shekel.

And thy estimation shall be of the male from twenty years old even unto sixty years old, even thy estimation shall be fifty shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary.

Verse 4

But if it is a female, the valuation shall be thirty shekels.

And if it be a female, then thy estimation shall be thirty shekels.

Verse 5

If the person is five to twenty years old, the valuation for a male shall be twenty shekels, and for a female, ten shekels.

And if it be from five years old even unto twenty years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels.

Verse 6

If the person is one month old to five years old, the valuation for a male shall be five shekels of silver, and for a female, three shekels of silver.

And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver, and for the female thy estimation shall be three shekels of silver.

Verse 7

If the person is sixty years old or older, the valuation shall be fifteen shekels for a male and ten shekels for a female.

And if it be from sixty years old and above; if it be a male, then thy estimation shall be fifteen shekels, and for the female ten shekels.

Verse 8

If someone is too poor to pay the valuation, they shall present the individual before the priest, and the priest shall assess the value according to what the one making the vow can afford.

But if he be poorer than thy estimation, then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to his ability that vowed shall the priest value him.

Verse 9

If it is an animal that can be offered as an offering to the LORD, whatever is given to the LORD shall be holy.

And if it be a beast, whereof men bring an offering unto the LORD, all that any man giveth of such unto the LORD shall be holy.

Verse 10

It must not be exchanged or substituted, whether good for bad or bad for good. If it is exchanged, both the animal and its substitute shall become holy.

He shall not alter it, nor change it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good: and if he shall at all change beast for beast, then it and the exchange thereof shall be holy.

Verse 11

If it is an unclean animal that cannot be offered to the LORD as a sacrifice, it must be presented before the priest.

And if it be any unclean beast, of which they do not offer a sacrifice unto the LORD, then he shall present the beast before the priest:

Verse 12

The priest shall assess it as either good or bad; whatever value the priest assigns, that shall be its value.

And the priest shall value it, whether it be good or bad: as thou valuest it, who art the priest, so shall it be.

Verse 13

If the owner wishes to redeem it, they must add a fifth to its value.

But if he will at all redeem it, then he shall add a fifth part thereof unto thy estimation.

Verse 14

If someone consecrates their house as holy to the LORD, the priest shall value it as either good or bad; whatever value the priest assigns, so it shall remain.

And when a man shall sanctify his house to be holy unto the LORD, then the priest shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad: as the priest shall estimate it, so shall it stand.

Verse 15

If the one who consecrated it wishes to redeem their house, they must add a fifth to the valuation price, and it shall become theirs.

And if he that sanctified it will redeem his house, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be his.

Verse 16

If someone dedicates part of their field as their possession to the LORD, the valuation will be based on how much seed is required to sow it—a homer of barley seed will be valued at fifty shekels of silver.

And if a man shall sanctify unto the LORD some part of a field of his possession, then thy estimation shall be according to the seed thereof: an homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver.

Verse 17

If they dedicate their field during the Year of Jubilee, the valuation will stand as it is.

If he sanctify his field from the year of jubile, according to thy estimation it shall stand.

Verse 18

But if they dedicate their field after the Jubilee, the priest will calculate the value based on the number of years left until the next Jubilee, and a reduction will be made from the original valuation.

But if he sanctify his field after the jubile, then the priest shall reckon unto him the money according to the years that remain, even unto the year of the jubile, and it shall be abated from thy estimation.

Verse 19

If the person who dedicated the field wishes to redeem it, they must add a fifth to the valuation price, and the field will be theirs again.

And if he that sanctified the field will in any wise redeem it, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be assured to him.

Verse 20

If they do not redeem the field, or if they have sold it to someone else, it can no longer be redeemed.

And if he will not redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed any more.

Verse 21

When the field is released in the Jubilee, it will become holy to the LORD, like a field devoted to Him. It will belong to the priest as their possession.

But the field, when it goeth out in the jubile, shall be holy unto the LORD, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest's.

Verse 22

If someone dedicates a field they purchased, one that is not part of their ancestral inheritance, to the LORD,

And if a man sanctify unto the LORD a field which he hath bought, which is not of the fields of his possession;

Verse 23

the priest will calculate its value up to the Year of Jubilee, and the person must pay the value on that day. It will be holy to the LORD.

Then the priest shall reckon unto him the worth of thy estimation, even unto the year of the jubile: and he shall give thine estimation in that day, as a holy thing unto the LORD.

Verse 24

In the Year of Jubilee, the field will return to the original owner from whom it was purchased, the one who holds it as their ancestral inheritance.

In the year of the jubile the field shall return unto him of whom it was bought, even to him to whom the possession of the land did belong.

Verse 25

Every valuation will be according to the sanctuary shekel, where twenty gerahs make a shekel.

And all thy estimations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs shall be the shekel.

Verse 26

However, no one may dedicate the firstborn of their animals, because the firstborn already belongs to the LORD, whether it is an ox or a sheep.

Only the firstling of the beasts, which should be the LORD'S firstling, no man shall sanctify it; whether it be ox, or sheep: it is the LORD'S.

Verse 27

If it is an unclean animal, it may be redeemed according to its valuation by adding a fifth of its value, or if not redeemed, it must be sold at its valuation.

And if it be of an unclean beast, then he shall redeem it according to thine estimation, and shall add a fifth part of it thereto: or if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to thy estimation.

Verse 28

Anything that is devoted to the LORD, whether a person, an animal, or a field from one's possession, cannot be sold or redeemed; everything devoted is most holy to the LORD.

Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the LORD of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD.

Verse 29

No person who has been devoted to destruction for the LORD may be redeemed; they must be put to death.

None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death.

Verse 30

A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.

And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S: it is holy unto the LORD.

Verse 31

If anyone wishes to redeem any part of their tithe, they must add a fifth of its value to it.

And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof.

Verse 32

Every tithe of the herd or flock, every tenth animal that passes under the shepherd’s rod, will be holy to the LORD.

And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.

Verse 33

No one may pick out the good from the bad or make any substitution. If anyone does substitute one animal for another, both the original animal and its substitute shall become holy and cannot be redeemed.

He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.

Verse 34

These are the commandments the LORD gave Moses for the Israelites on Mount Sinai.

These are the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai.
