Verse 1

When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him.

When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

Verse 2

And behold, a man with leprosy approached and knelt before Him, saying, 'Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.'

And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

Verse 3

Jesus reached out His hand, touched him, and said, 'I am willing; be clean.' Immediately, the leprosy was cleansed from him.

And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Verse 4

Then Jesus said to him, 'See that you tell no one. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.'

And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

Verse 5

When Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him,

And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

Verse 6

and said, 'Lord, my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.'

And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

Verse 7

Jesus said to him, 'I will come and heal him.'

And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

Verse 8

But the centurion replied, 'Lord, I am not worthy to have You come under my roof. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed.'

The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

Verse 9

'For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and I tell my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.'

For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

Verse 10

When Jesus heard this, He was amazed and said to those following Him, 'Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.'

When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

Verse 11

I tell you, many will come from the east and the west and will recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

Verse 12

But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Verse 13

Then Jesus said to the centurion, 'Go, and let it be done for you as you have believed.' And his servant was healed at that very hour.

And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

Verse 14

When Jesus came into Peter’s house, He saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.

And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.

Verse 15

He touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she got up and began to serve Him.

And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

Verse 16

That evening, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. He cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick.

When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

Verse 17

This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: 'He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.'

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

Verse 18

When Jesus saw the large crowds around Him, He gave orders to go over to the other side of the lake.

Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

Verse 19

Then a scribe came and said to Him, 'Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.'

And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

Verse 20

Jesus replied, 'Foxes have dens and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.'

And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

Verse 21

Another of His disciples said to Him, 'Lord, let me first go and bury my father.'

And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

Verse 22

But Jesus told him, 'Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.'

But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

Verse 23

Then He got into the boat, and His disciples followed Him.

And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

Verse 24

Suddenly, a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But Jesus was sleeping.

And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

Verse 25

The disciples came and woke Him, saying, 'Lord, save us! We are perishing!'

And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

Verse 26

He replied, 'Why are you so afraid, you of little faith?' Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it became perfectly calm.

And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

Verse 27

The men were amazed and asked, 'What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the sea obey Him!'

But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

Verse 28

When He arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men came out from the tombs to meet Him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.

And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

Verse 29

Suddenly they shouted, 'What do You want with us, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the appointed time?'

And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

Verse 30

A large herd of pigs was feeding at some distance from them.

And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.

Verse 31

The demons begged Him, 'If You drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.'

So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.

Verse 32

He said to them, 'Go!' So they came out and went into the herd of pigs. Suddenly, the whole herd of pigs rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the waters.

And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

Verse 33

Those tending the pigs ran off and went into the city. There, they reported everything, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men.

And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.

Verse 34

Then the whole city came out to meet Jesus. When they saw Him, they begged Him to leave their region.

And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
