1

To the chief Musician{H8764)}, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came{H8800)} unto him, after he had gone in{H8804)} to Bathsheba. Have mercy{H8798)} upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out{H8798)} my transgressions.

2

Wash{H8761)} me throughly{H8685)} from mine iniquity, and cleanse{H8761)} me from my sin.

3

For I acknowledge{H8799)} my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

4

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned{H8804)}, and done{H8804)} this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified{H8799)} when thou speakest{H8800)}, and be clear{H8799)} when thou judgest{H8800)}.

5

Behold, I was shapen{H8797)} in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive{H8765)} me.

6

Behold, thou desirest{H8804)} truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden{H8803)} part thou shalt make me to know{H8686)} wisdom.

7

Purge{H8762)} me with hyssop, and I shall be clean{H8799)}: wash{H8762)} me, and I shall be whiter{H8686)} than snow.

8

Make me to hear{H8686)} joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken{H8765)} may rejoice{H8799)}.

9

Hide{H8685)} thy face from my sins, and blot out{H8798)} all mine iniquities.

10

Create{H8798)} in me a clean heart, O God; and renew{H8761)} a right{H8737)} spirit within me.

11

Cast me not away{H8686)} from thy presence; and take{H8799)} not thy holy spirit from me.

12

Restore{H8685)} unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold{H8799)} me with thy free spirit.

13

Then will I teach{H8762)} transgressors{H8802)} thy ways; and sinners shall be converted{H8799)} unto thee.

14

Deliver{H8685)} me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud{H8762)} of thy righteousness.

15

O Lord, open{H8799)} thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth{H8686)} thy praise.

16

For thou desirest{H8799)} not sacrifice; else would I give{H8799)} it: thou delightest{H8799)} not in burnt offering.

17

The sacrifices of God are a broken{H8737)} spirit: a broken{H8737)} and a contrite{H8737)} heart, O God, thou wilt not despise{H8799)}.

18

Do good{H8685)} in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build{H8799)} thou the walls of Jerusalem.

19

Then shalt thou be pleased{H8799)} with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer{H8686)} bullocks upon thine altar.
