The king said moreover to Shimei, You know all the wickedness which your heart knows very well, that you did to David my father; therefore the Lord will return your wickedness upon your own head.

7 And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, you bloody man, and you man of Belial:
8 The LORD has returned upon you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose place you have reigned; and the LORD has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son: and, behold, you are caught in your own mischief, because you are a bloody man.
19 And said to the king, Let not my lord impute iniquity to me, neither remember what your servant did perversely the day my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.
31 And the king said unto him, Do as he has said, and strike him down and bury him, that you may take away the innocent blood which Joab shed, from me and from the house of my father.

34 But if you return to the city, and say to Absalom, I will be your servant, O king; as I have been your father's servant before, so will I now also be your servant: then you may for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel.
