  • Isa 5:1-6 : 1 Now I will sing to my beloved a song of my beloved concerning his vineyard. My beloved has a vineyard on a very fruitful hill: 2 And he fenced it, and removed its stones, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress in it: and he expected it to bring forth grapes, but it brought forth wild grapes. 3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, between me and my vineyard. 4 What more could have been done to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? Why, when I looked for it to bring forth grapes, did it bring forth wild grapes? 5 And now, I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away its hedge, and it shall be eaten up; break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down: 6 And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor dug; but briers and thorns shall come up: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.

For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Shall he not pull up its roots and cut off its fruit, that it withers? It shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by its roots. 10 Yes, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? Shall it not utterly wither when the east wind touches it? It shall wither in the furrows where it grew.
