16Then the same Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem: and from that time even until now it has been in building, and yet it is not completed.
17Now therefore, if it pleases the king, let a search be made in the king's treasure house, which is there in Babylon, to see whether a decree was made by king Cyrus to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his decision to us concerning this matter.
3In the first year of King Cyrus, the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem: Let the house be rebuilt, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let its foundations be firmly laid; its height sixty cubits, and its width sixty cubits;
4With three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber; and let the expenses be given from the king's treasury:
17Then I said to them, You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire. Come, let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer be a reproach.
18Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me, and also the king's words that he had spoken to me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.
8And a letter to Asaph, the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which pertain to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.
12And may the God who has caused His name to dwell there destroy all kings and people who attempt to alter or destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I, Darius, have made a decree; let it be done swiftly.

14And the elders of the Jews built, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they built and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.
15And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of King Darius.

13So the workmen worked, and the work was completed by them, and they set the house of God in its state, and strengthened it.
9For we were bondservants, yet our God has not forsaken us in our bondage, but has extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, to repair its desolations, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.
16And it happened, when all our enemies heard of it, and all the nations around us saw these things, they were very disheartened in their own eyes; for they realized that this work was done by our God.
20Then I answered them and said to them, The God of heaven will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build; but you have no portion, nor right, nor memorial in Jerusalem.
27Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem:
19Then I said to the nobles, the rulers, and the rest of the people, The work is great and extensive, and we are separated on the wall, far from one another.

8Now in the second year of their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brothers the priests and the Levites, and all those who had come out of the captivity to Jerusalem, began; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to oversee the work of the house of the LORD.
2And he spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they sacrifice? Will they finish in a day? Will they revive the stones from the heaps of rubbish that are burned?
5Then the leaders of the fathers' houses of Judah and Benjamin arose, and the priests, and the Levites, with all those whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.
