  • 1 Sam 25:21-33 : 21 Now David had said, Surely in vain have I protected all that this fellow has in the wilderness, so that nothing was missing of all that belonged to him, and he has repaid me evil for good. 22 So may God do to David's enemies, and more also, if by morning I leave anyone who urinates against the wall, of all who belong to him. 23 When Abigail saw David, she hurried and got off the donkey and fell before David on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, 24 And she fell at his feet and said, Upon me, my lord, upon me let this iniquity be; and let your maidservant speak in your ears, and hear the words of your maidservant. 25 Please do not let my lord regard this worthless man, Nabal, for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him. But I, your maidservant, did not see the young men of my lord whom you sent. 26 Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, since the LORD has restrained you from coming to bloodshed and from avenging yourself with your own hand, now let your enemies and those who seek harm for my lord be as Nabal. 27 And now this blessing, which your maidservant has brought to my lord, let it be given to the young men who follow my lord. 28 Please forgive the trespass of your maidservant, for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house, because my lord fights the battles of the LORD, and evil has not been found in you all your days. 29 Yet a man has risen to pursue you and seek your life; but the life of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD your God; and the lives of your enemies, He shall sling out, as from the pocket of a sling. 30 And it shall come to pass, when the LORD has done for my lord according to all the good He has spoken concerning you, and has appointed you ruler over Israel, 31 that this will be no grief to you, nor a cause of remorse of heart to my lord, either that you have shed blood without cause or that my lord has avenged himself. But when the LORD has dealt well with my lord, then remember your maidservant. 32 And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me. 33 And blessed is your advice, and blessed are you, because you have kept me this day from coming to bloodshed and from avenging myself with my own hand.
  • 1 Kgs 12:13-16 : 13 And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the counsel of the old men that they gave him, 14 and spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke; my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions. 15 Therefore the king did not listen to the people, for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform His word, which the LORD spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat. 16 So when all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. To your tents, O Israel! Now see to your own house, David. So Israel departed to their tents.

Isn't the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer? 3 God has delivered into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb: and what was I able to do in comparison to you? Then their anger was pacified toward him when he said that.

If he said, No; 6 Then they said to him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not pronounce it right. Then they took him, and killed him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time forty-two thousand of the Ephraimites.
  • 1 Sam 25:10-13 : 10 And Nabal answered David's servants and said, Who is David? And who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants these days who break away from their masters. 11 Shall I take my bread, my water, and the meat I have prepared for my shearers, and give it to men whom I do not know from where they are? 12 So David's young men turned away, and went back, and came and told him all these words. 13 And David said to his men, Each of you gird on his sword. And each one girded on his sword, and David also girded on his sword; and about four hundred men went up after David, while two hundred stayed with the supplies.
