  • Eccl 9:13-18 : 13 This wisdom I have seen also under the sun, and it seemed great to me: 14 There was a little city with few men in it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great siege works against it. 15 Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no one remembered that same poor man. 16 Then I said, Wisdom is better than strength; nevertheless, the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. 17 The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that rules among fools. 18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.
  • 2 Sam 5:6-9 : 6 And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, Unless you take away the blind and the lame, you will not come in here; thinking, David cannot come in here. 7 Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion, which is the City of David. 8 And David said on that day, Whoever gets up through the water shaft and strikes the Jebusites, the lame and the blind, who are hated by David's soul, he shall be chief and captain. Therefore, they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house. 9 So David dwelt in the fort and called it the City of David, and David built all around from Millo inward.
  • 2 Sam 20:16-22 : 16 Then a wise woman called out from the city, Listen, listen; please say to Joab, Come here, that I may speak with you. 17 When he came near her, the woman asked, Are you Joab? He answered, I am. Then she said, Listen to the words of your servant. And he answered, I am listening. 18 She continued, In former times, they used to say, Let them ask counsel at Abel; and so they resolved disputes. 19 I am one of the peaceable and faithful in Israel. You seek to destroy a city and a mother in Israel. Why would you swallow up the inheritance of the LORD? 20 Joab answered, Far be it from me, far be it from me, to swallow up or destroy. 21 The matter is not so; but a man from the hill country of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, has raised his hand against the king, against David. Deliver him only, and I will depart from the city. The woman said to Joab, Behold, his head shall be thrown to you over the wall. 22 Then the woman went to all the people with her wise advice. They cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri and threw it to Joab. He blew the trumpet, and they dispersed from the city, each to his tent. Joab returned to the king in Jerusalem.
